Wheel bearing seal part number.
Hi everyone. I recently posted a question regarding the part number for the wheel bearing seal. The seal part number in my 2011 is 473336. It is a national bearing part. You can cross reference this number and upgrade to a double lip seal if you wish. Just thought it may save someone some time if they want to get parts before they get dirty. Cheers!

I changed all the 23D wheel bearings at about 2,000 miles when we checked them during the upgrades process. One set was badly scored from lack of grease (only 2,000 miles on them from dealer lot as unit was trucked to the dealer). Another set were lightly scored. We used USA made Timken bearings and seals.

Tail light replacement
One of my tail light has a few leds burnt out. I checked Out of Doors Mart and they are 65.00 each and as my 23d is 2015 they don’t even match. Has anybody replaced theirs yet. I found these but not sure if they will work. https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...onnector/2027/ These look like the ones I have on my 23d.
Thanks Scott

Scott,
I replace mine with the ones from superbrightleds.com about a year ago and they have worked great.

Ronnie thanks, they are real reasonable too. I’ll order them and try as I need to have the trailer inspected next month.

Are those the new bezels that come with the lights?
I was outside putting the Airstream away,we just got back from another weekend. This time we went to Devils Backbone brewery, the place is cool and has a excellent restaurant. Also Bold Cider and lots of other breweries. I be going back next year when they have music.

Battery options.
My 2018 23CB will be two years old this fall. We have the original Interstate batteries, 200 watts of solar on the roof and I’m concerned the batteries are near the end of their useful life.
We do a lot of Boondocking.
Yesterday we were at the beach. We parked about 1130am and had 100 percent showing in the power monitor and 13.2 on the voltage. Plenty of sun, no shade.
So I was quite concerned at dinner time when voltage was down to 10.0, and battery capacity showed 0 percent. Discovered somebody left the radio on, and my grandson turned a light on that was apparently draining the battery for several hours. Just one light...the decorative incandescent light next to the divan.
Service writer at the local AS dealer told me some time ago that I shouldn’t expect battery life of more than a couple years with the as-delivered Interstate batteries.
What would you do at this point? Replace batteries with what?
Dealer wanted to sell me a power upgrade for something like $4k.
Am sure the experts here have better, more cost-effective answers.
Leaving shortly for a couple of big trips, mostly with full hookups.
Thanks in advance.

We changed out all of our incandescent bulbs for LEDs; better light, lower battery draw. I would switch from Interstate batteries too. I'd go with Deka, Trojan or Lifelines.
You should be able to swap out the old incandescent bulbs yourself. Replacement LEDs have the same base, just LEDs instead of filaments. Got mine on Amazon.

At 10 volts your old interstates are toast.
Changing out to twin 6 volt golf cart batteries is the way I went. 225 amp hours almost doubles your current capacity and provides you with a battery that was designed for long term use. (made to charge and discharge).
Your solar will do a descent job maintaining them and cost will be on your side as 6 volt golf cart batteries run about $120.00 each (you will need two).
Here’s a couple of my blog post on my upgrade.
You will not need the Barry box extender ring because your trailer already has a bigger battery box.

We have all LEDs and those decorative lamps on either side of the dinette are, I think, incandescent.

Yours is a much newer model than mine. Ours still has the high intensity lamps above the L-couch and bed; battery hogs. Is that what you mean by your decorative lamps? If so, you'll probably have to swap out the lamps for something else.

Oh well
likely my fault but went to turn on the refrigerator yesterday and would not function on gas. It had worked fine about two weeks ago but would not even try to light, no ignition sequence just the check light after about ten seconds.
Did all the troubleshooting I could and seems the lower circuit board died. The trailer is about 7 months old so time for a failure or two right? In all fairness I installed an exhaust fan for the compartment tying the positive side to the existing fan and ground to the fan ground downstream of the thermostat so I could turn the new fan off and on with the inside fan switch. I may have arched something at some point, though I don't think so frying the board. I guess I will look back on other fan installs to see how others have wired theirs.
Good news is for the price of the fuel to haul her to a dealer I can replace the board! Hope that cures it, have a trip in the plans for early July
Good day all!

Spare Tire Bracket Recall
Just got a letter from Airstream stating that certain 2017-2020 Airstreams (Mine is a 2019 23 CB) are being recalled for a defective weld in the spare tire bracket that could cause it to break off the Airstream. I'm going to try and call and see how bad this really is since I'm leaving soon for a 3 week 3000 mile trip out west. There's no way I'll get into the dealer before the trip. I may just remove the spare and put it in the bed of the truck and hope that the weld isn't really bad.
