So glad you and your bride are alive and home safe. I know you guys are very active, but right now down time has got to be the plan. Heal fast and know you and your wife are in our prayers.

Prefer EMD or GE products? Still know how to power brake?

Old school EMD, it’s been a long time since I’ve been able to stretch brake. Too many electronics to tell on you. 28 more days to go!

We're just getting ready to launch a long trip to southern light from BC... I STILL can't figure how to get the TV sound to go through the sound system in my 2013 23D Flying CLoud.

It has s Sony model DSX S310001X with an XA-300 auxiliary unit behind that. I have the TV connected to the RCA cables that were in the trailer when we bought it.

I can't seem to find the source for it on the radio.

I'd appreciate a little how-to advice here if somebody has time to answer my question.

On mine the AUX is the source.

thanks... but I don't seem to get that option on the radio head...

the XA 300 info sheet say to press Source until CD is selected, the press Mode repeatedly until the device you want to listen to is selected and one example is CD2/AUX1- which I chose. I don't seem to get anything other than the Sony input, even though I have the TV running- I've tried all of the output options on the TV thinking that I may have made a mistake there... but still no sound coming through the speakers... are there other options?

Connect a set of aux speakers to audio output on the back of the TV to see if a signal is coming out.
Maybe there is a problem with the TV?

Ronnie, thanks for posting your Victron BMV monitor installation. I've been following closely because I have the same monitor waiting for me to install it in our AS!

I know you intend to post more information on this project, so my apologies for jumping the gun with a question; can you tell me how many feet of cable is required to reach from the battery box to your shunt?

Our AS is in storage so it's not always convenient to run over for a measurement.

Keith,
I was able to use the factory (-) Neg cable. On my 23D the Neg cable comes straight from the battery to a (-) Neg bus bar. I connected the factory cable from the battery to the shunt and purchased a 12” cable to go from the shunt to the Neg bus bar. All my negative connections originate form the negative bus bar.
Hope that make some since.

My 23D is a 2007. I do have a Sony player but an older model. My Mode for TV is CD3. I hope this helps.

Cindy, the RCA plugs on my TV the factory Samsung are inputs. Output is wires towards the left looking at the back. The RCA towards the receiver, also factory DSX S310 BTX. On the receiver I press the Source to turn it on, then Source to move between inputs. CD is the input, but to get onto CD2 then press Mode to switch from CD1 2 or 3. I’m on CD2. I have to have some volume on the TV then i can adjust speaker volume at the receiver.

I spent yesterday on a few mods and have a dozen or more in planning stage. I contacted Airstream for the laminate used on the countertops on the 2018 and 2019 flying clouds but did not get much help, anyone know what the darker colored countertop laminate is, I want to watch factory finish on a couple of new shelves.
Thanks
David

Thanks Rob,
Will give her a call. Wish we would have had another day to pull things from the old trailer, there was a bunch I could have used. on the other hand I am very thankful we salvaged as much as we did ~ AND walked away. I still get a bit nervous when anyone gets close to moving into our lane!

No Job Too Small (!)

OK, apparently, I've been so quiet around here, that this morning Ronnie pinged me to see if I was still alive. There's room for some doubt about that!

So, today, I ran across my new and unused collapsible colander (unused because the surrounding piece wouldn't work with my lobster pot sink). So I gathered it up, threw away the original plastic surrounding piece and made me a new one that WOULD fit my sink, I used a poly cutting board that I had on hand... it came from Ace Mart. Twenty minutes on the router table and now I have a usable colander... bring on the pasta!

Rob,
You should start manufacturing Airstream custom parts and upgrades!
One of the parts we did not find was the sink cover, yesterday I was thinking about a mod to it that looks much like what you did. If I had the old one I would not worry about messing up the new one.

Yours Looks great, you are a true craftsman.

Working on a Victron Battery Monitor install and thought I would share where I'm at in the process.

I purchased the Victron BMV-702 monitor and after reading reviews wished that I had splurged for the BMV-712 with built in bluetooth. Nice thing about the 702 is that you can add the dongle for Blue tooth capability, so that's what I've done.

Part of my dilemma is where to mount the Victron monitor, which requires a 2" mounting hole. I want it to be accessible, yet out of site.

Today I spent some time investigating the street side options, since that is where DC power comes into the 23d.

I looked at the forward overhead storage cabinet which has removable panels at both ends. The street side panel would have been a nice location, but there doesn't seem to be a clear path to run wiring from the floor to inside the cabinet, at least if there is it's not readily apparent to me.

At this point I've settled on the street side wardrobe.

Inside the wardrobe, there is a channel that runs from the floor (near the water pump) to the ceiling (2017 23d), and provides a clear path for wires, and a mounting surface for the Victron gage.

Airstream probably designed this pathway with something else in mind, but it should work for my purposes.

Victron provides a cable that will reach from the forward shunt location to the street side wardrobe with no problem. It's just a matter of pulling the cable under the lounge, and I don't think it will be difficult.

The monitor will mount inside the upper wardrobe, out of site, and yet be reasonably accessible. I believe the dongle plugs into the back of the battery monitor, so I will have to figure out where to mount it.

That's my plan. Still waiting for a few parts, but we'll see how it goes.

Many have posted on this subject and I am grateful for the knowledge shared here on the forum.

If/when you find out the laminate please post it here. I’m looking for this and the newer wall/cabinet laminate for the 2018 models. Been thinking about building a flip up counter top extension and converting the under bed storage to a drawer like Ultimate Airstreams did to the 19’ model posted a few pages back.
