Rich,
I’m not sure how to solve you problem, but just remember there is a vent pipe and quite a few wires in that dead space behind the thermostat

Furnace operation post NEW AC install

As many of you are aware we upgraded our AC unit over the summer from the stock 13.5K to a 15K. This new AC/HP has been one of the best upgrades we have made to our unit.
Today in prep for our trip to OKC I was testing in the systems and noticed there was no furnace mode on the thermostat. This was an over site on my part over the summer. I guess it was not needed so it was out of mind.
I could not get the system to recognize the furnace.
Any who, after a little research I found the problem to be “ME”
I failed to flip the DIP switch related to the Furnace inside the new AC unit.
Easy fix, I guess sometimes I’m not as good as I think I am.

Good catch... easy fix... what's not to love?

Heck, I never am as good as I think I am, and I don't think I'm very good

Ok so I finished up the vanity. That is a tight fit. Well after I patched several more places where the screws split the ends of the plywood, I attached the plexiglass with industrial Velcro. The plexiglass is a little flimsy just like the panel that came from factory but now I can remove for a quick fix if needed. I think they make a piece of trim that might slip over the top edge of the plexiglass to help. If not it's not going any where any how.

Next up.... Install the lift! Kyle called this am for me to take the 23d to his shop and install the lift blocks tomorrow morning. Now I'm getting nervous, I'm hoping I measured the holes right! If their right should go smoothly.

I'm pretty sure you meant pics of lift process will do but in the meantime....this is of the vanity with the plexiglass. I reinforced it with some left over aluminum angle from the trim piece under the commode. I attached it with double faced foam tape, worked real good.

Scott,
Great you did the aluminum angle on the toilet riser. That’s a great one, keeps feet from damaging the Formica

Finally after a busy season at our family run business we are able to finally get on the road for our much anticipated 3-4 month back-roads America tour. And thanks to all of you great 23'ers have been busy with the list of Mods in preparation for our departure, which I'll update all in future posts very soon.
Currently am having a minor issue that hopefully some of you can provide ideas/suggestions to troubleshoot/repair. have a 2018 23CB, and the 8 main kitchen/dinette overhead LED lights died on day-2 from home base (where an intermittent flicker on day-1). Have determined that there is a dead short to ground on the + side wire(yellow/black wire) that exits from the switch (dimmable) just to the right upon entry to the coach.
troubleshooting to date:
-DC fuses in panel- all ok
-pulled switch - 10Amp fuse output of switch blown/replaced and blew immediately
-removed fuse -checked w/ multimeter 12VDC ok exiting switch (when on), into switch fuse block
-ohmed out wire from switch fuse block and dead short to ground
- pulled all 8 lamps from overhead and removed + leads from lamp assemblies (to isolate potential grounded (+) at lamp - all lamps good but +wire (yellow/black) still shorted to ground with lamps removed from circuit
-contacted dealer, then Airstream directly and after talking with a tech at Airstream he said sounds like a short at a packard(?) connector, but wasn't much help in locating where this connector would be on the 23CB.... somewhere behind a blind panel (overhead compartment, under sink, wardrobe wall, under lounge, ...)
Anyone have any ideas where this mystery connector is or any other ideas to locate this gremlin?

There no other electrical (AC or DC) issues, and this is really non-critical just means the main overhead lights aren't working and bit more ambiance and the kitchen table, but would like it to be 100% before we get too far down the road.

We are in Ohio and where coming to the factory for a tour as were passing close by, and trying to get someone at the factory to take a quick look at the issue, but without a scheduled appointment am not overly optimistic that's going to happen. Factory service center is major swamped, booked thru end of January and short handed.

Any ideas suggestions greatly appreciated.......

David,
First congrats on the trip.
Now on the the meat. I’m very impressed with the amount of leg work you have done troubleshooting this problem.
Here’s what a packard connector looks like
https://www.delcity.net/store/Packar...rminals/p_9108
As far as it’s location “if that is indeed the problem” it should be how the puck lights are connected.
That wire “I believe” runs up to the front fantastic fan area. You can drop the inside fan trim piece and take a look there if you haven’t already.

Sound like you have tracked it to the area between the dimmer switch and the first light in the series? Is that correct?

If so With all lights disconnected ohm out each hot (+) wire and determine with one has the short. That will identify the first light in the circuit.

If that wire is singled out in the run check and see if you can pull it a little. ( not loosing control of the other end. If so you should be able to tie on and pull a new wire. If you feel comfortable doing so.

That wire is probable pinched between the inside skin and rib. It took it a while to rub through but finally did.

Your best option is going to be Throw a small fit when you are at Airstream and get them to take care of this for you while you are there. They should fix it. There’s always someone there to help put out small fires without an appointment.

I know I’m rambling sorry, anyway good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Very helpful and I think we are on same train of thought. I’ll pull the fan shroud and see if I can locate the wire, and need to double check but the +side at all lights I thought was shorted to ground ( but that wouldn’t make sense if wired in series). I’ll be at the service desk at 7 am when they open to push on them again this morning. Will update on progress.

Also will update forum on our trip and mods we’ve down once we escape this cold (been down to 17 ), rain, snow, sleet, and grey miserable weather we’ve been running. Other then the 8 lights out ( adds to the romantic mood lighting) everything is working flawlessly, solar/lithium upgrade even kept the power hungry furnace fan happy for 5 days boondocking.

We’re happy campers :-)

Yep that wire “should only be grounded out in one spot. It’s just a matter of isolating it. Good luck. Let us know how JC treats you.

“Gen Start” is for like a Class A or C that has an onboard generator. This would allow the AC to send a signal to a start relay which in turn would start the onboard generator if the AC needed to or was set to come on then turn off when done.

Progress, sort of. We would have been done with the first axle but ran into a snag. I think I know what the large hole is for that GMFL has in his lift blocks. My block don't have them. Kyle welded in some nice bolt stops but you still need some pressure on the bolt heads to keep them from spinning. I bought fine thread grade 8 bolts and pinched nuts to go with them. When these are tighten down the aren't going nowhere! We tac welded the bolt heads to the stops but one broke free and we will have to drill a hole to hold it to tightened with the impact driver. Did you find that the two inch bolts get in the way of the shocks?

I think this lift would be easier the second time you did it. I couldn't have done this with out Kyle's help. He really knows his way in the shop is a really good welder. Having the right tools and a great work shop definitely makes all the difference.

So, if you can also report that Carole's healing nicely and is pain-free, we can call this a happy ending!

Oh, what truck did you get?

Carole is better, still very sore and not moving real fast. Picked up a new Titan SL with all the tow goodies. Ordered a camper top and will build a temp bed cover to go pick up the trailer. There were not many 23 CBs at the dealers, found only three like we wanted and am buying one of those in Florida, we can eat our way along the gulf coast!!
