Wilsonart Question
Rob,
Great work, I have been admiring some of your projects. I seem to remember you got the Wilsonart from Lowe's, is Asian Sand 7952K-01 the right stuff?
My lowe's says it is "special" in the high gloss finish and takes three to five weeks and I am required to buy a full 48" x 96" sheet.
Thank you, Gary

Thanks, Gary, for your kind compliments. I would like to say that I really enjoyed making the bookrack/folding shelf, but the truth is it was tedious and made a huge mess of the shop. But, it was worth it for sure.
I bought the Asian Sand Wilsonart laminate from Home Depot. I bought the 3' X 8' piece in Wilsonart's "Linerity" finish. I really did not want to use the high gloss finish; I'm 100% certain that I would have scratched it up pretty badly during the project. So, to get an acceptable finish, I just sprayed the finished gizmo with Krylon Non-yellowing Clear Gloss. I did not spray the "wear areas," the bottom of the shelf (where the coffee cup will sit) and inside the book rack.
By the way, the laminate was a shade over $50 and shipped free to my front door... and in only a few days.
Thanks again,
Right b

Rob,
Thank you very much, that is exactly what I wanted to know.
Also, I think the "Linerity" finish is much more durable for your application.
Thanks again, Gary

Hey ES,
They are 2 speed; wired for high. Won't be able to hear them from inside. The tacky thing is they light up... AS blue.

AC update
Well we are back from our trip through AL, MS and LA. Our new 15K AC preformed flawlessly. Nice and cool despite NO shade and HOT weather. Also had no condensation dripping from the return air vents like we did with the old unit. Remember we did install the new unit with the proper 2 gasket system. These photos where taken at 5:45 PM Sunday

As with all my stupid projects, it is primarily 1/4" (nominal) Baltic birch, laminated with Wilsonart "Asian Sand" pattern (same as the Airstream's other cabinetry). The shelf folds up for bed-making and whatever, and locks into the down position by using one of those little brass double-ball catches.
All in all, I'm pleased with the project, and Linda is thrilled... and that's what counts!

Rob,
Following your lead but having neither the carpentry skills nor workshop, here is my low-key version to your work of art. Holds our phones, iPads, flashlights, etc.
From Amazon: a Rolodex Mesh Wall File which is held up by medium sized Command Hooks. Bride is happy and, as we all know, THAT is the bottom line!
Thanks for the inspiration.

On this 2013 23 FB, the thermostat is on the bedside of the curb wardrobe; where it is makes it hard to read. You have to be just so read it. Anyone heard of this and how to "fix" it. I thought about making it swing around on a hinge. But....
TIA,
Wolfwhistle
Today I jacked up and have the drums off to inspect and repack. It sure looks like it has never been repacked since new. Can't see damage so I'll put them back with new grease seals (ordered today). Also bought solid SS lug nuts. Drums and brakes look okay. Stopping excellent.
I also have not seen the new cooling fans run. I jumpered and proved they work. Not sure what the temp has to be for the thermostat to call for cool... but today hit high 80s; the compartment is warm... fridge on round wave.
TIA again

I might try one of those foam sponge brushes next time to see if it streaks.
I can tell you this, if you used a sprayer it would be beautiful... I might try that next time. I touched up all sorts of small scrapes etc, and the roof looked like new. Best $26 spent, and I have enough forever now at 1 quart.

Maybe someone can use this...
Something I've tried is this: paint with a roller. This works if the paint dries slowly enough, roll it in a size area that's manageable then blow compressed air over it. The air breaks the air bubbles and it flows out like its sprayed, but without the hassle of taping and covering a huge area. The air has to be clean and dry (not easy in FL). I saw this on youtube (where else) and tried it... I was amazed. I would test on a scrap piece of something with the specific paint first. I used it with Rustoleum that takes forty days and nights to dry... but worth a try.

This is fabulous! AS should incorporate this into their new models. I’m still looking for a replacement to the magazine rack.

Looks great Rob ! Its on my to do list as my wife reads on her phone or tablet often in "her" bed. I was asked again on our last trip. Lucky Linda
One challenge we have is that the 12v outlet for charging is at the foot of the bed on the curbside. Not sure if the newer models have that for the TV.
Options of course would be a 10ft charger cord under the mattress, etc, but still trying to figure out a better way.
I could access power from the reading lights above, or the light in the rear storage, directly below.

Wolf, did you connect these to the existing thermostat?
Have moved this mod up on my to do list, as am hearing the fan run constantly and the fridge shut down this past weekend, so its back to the top of the list, just below the ones that are over the top....

For those wondering what's under the dinette and the sofa in your 23D, here's a little look.

Good video as always Steve. Interesting, what year is yours? When I did my solar upgrade, I had to take the furniture alongside of the heater out and my 2017 was connected different. Looking forward to the build video.
Rob, when are you posting a video or instructions on that Ned shelf!?

Hey Fred, yes, I wired to the thermostat via the original 1 amp inline fuse. both are drawing .85 amperes. Its now parked under the canopy with fridge running but it isn't hot enough to run the fan (??). I have seen the original fan work, so I assume the thermostat is good. When I hardwired it to test, from the inside I can't hear them. The reason I knew this had to be done, is when I first bought it, running for 3 days it only dropped the lower section to 50 F... eventhough it would freeze water up top. I had it 50% filled with things already cold... mostly Yuenling.
Today my project is adding reversing switches to the fantastic fans and 303 the seals to hopefully stop the lid from sticking shut. I would change out to Maxxair if I wasn't such a tight wad.
