An easy and super-useful mod

Being "countertop challenged," I found that I could add to the available space while retaining [limited] use of the sink by cutting a five-inch hole in the factory-supplied sink cover. A 5" hole saw and a 1/8" radius router bit and ten minutes "work" and I was all done. A Grohe robe hook (matches the kitchen faucet) gives me a place to store the sink cover when I need the whole sink.

Knowing what Airstream charges for new sink covers, I'm not about to use mine for a cutting board... to fill that need, I just made a new cover from an Ace Mart rectangular cutting board. If I booger up this one, it's only twelve bucks to make a new one.

Everybody else has probably already seen this little - but useful - trick.

By the way, never store your factory sink cover other than vertical or perfectly flat... it WILL warp and that without remedy.

One more... this one strictly "for looks"

The Queen made me do this... She didn't like the looks of the the drawer, drawer slide, and legs under the curb side dinette seat.

Thanks for all the helpful mod ideas!

Our old 25' had a flip-up counter at the main door, which added counter space during meal prep, but was small enough that you could squeeze by and use the door to go outside. Have you given any thought to adding something like this at your sink counter, where you just hung the sink cover? I am wondering if it is still a stock AS part which might come in a variety of finishes to match the current interiors?

OTRA15,
I ordered the parts from Airstream to the side shelf from a 25 in my 23D, you can get them in all the late colors, it was about $300 total from them.

Has anyone come up with extra outside storage ideas? I have thebike rack and being solo I only carry one bike so it is a nice spot for outdoor rug or other light items. Other shot is from mu campground yesterday afternoon.

Nope... there is an opening just beneath the Corian countertop, with a hinged, dark glass door. A flip-up shelf would bar easy access to that access; and we use the access frequently (very). Anyway, with the sink cover mod and the slide-out on the "drawer," we seem to be fine for counter space now.

It is just outside La Veta Co, I am hosting a campground here the month of May, work in the morning, explore in the afternoons!

I thought I might add a line about the23Ds for anyone thinking about one. For 1 or 2 it is almost perfect, large enough to spend a few bad weather days inside and still easy to tow, only 8 ft wide and will fit in MOST campsights. I like having both ovens and the extra windows over the 19. For my use a very useful floorplan. Now if they just had an outside kitchen option!!l

Can anyone tell me where the stock 1000watt inverter switch in located on the 23D. Mine did not come with a inverter stock but I now have one and want to install my control switch in the stock location. OR. If any one has added an inverter post your install.

Stay tuned for a toilet UPGRADE

Arriving this week will be my new dometic 320 low profile elongated toilet. I will be replacing the stock thetford " base model" toilet. Two MAJOR improvements will be......
#1. 360 degree flush design. " better bowl cleaning with just 1 pint of water
# 2. Elongated bowel. " if you have to ask why, you do not need one."

Based on my measurements and the schematics it should fit fine and not take up an appreciable amount of space

HUGE IMPROVEMENT!

I will post a detailed install here once done

If you are looking for ideas on how to dress up your camper, there is a member on this forum (TBRich) that has 16 upholstery themes for his 19 foot Bambi. Here's a link: http://www.tbrich.com/azbambi/decor_themes.html

This is one of the biggest reasons that we installed the SeaLand 511 in Fortune Cookie...

You are going to love the new potty!

The inverter switch on the 2017 23D is as shown in photo, not sure the control wiring is in place on yours, others who have added one will i am sure chime in but I would place the switch in a spot you can easily run the wiring to.
