Forgot to address the door handles. They are not in the way at all. About 4" off the floor so you won't kick them and has not been a problem knocking around for us at all.
Thanks

Would you be so kind to provide links to where you bought your wheels and shoes (including lug nuts if you've replaced them)? My google-Fu isn't so great . I've not made any mods to our 23D yet as I'm not as skilled as many of you folks here so I figured starting with new wheel and shoes would be an easy start thank you!

15" wheel upgrade
I got my new rims off of Amazon, the balancers from Centramatic, the valve stems from O'Rielly's and the tires from WallyWorld. Here's a link to the post that I did. http://www.airforums.com/forums/blog...nd-tires-2629/
Most of the info about what to get came from other members here on the forum. There's also information about bearings, grease seals, axles etc. in the link.

We just remove the radio's face plate to kill it, like a car stereo. An on/off switch is on our to-do list.

I just take off the front panel as well, but still wonder if there is phantom draw to the base unit. A switch is in my future. Also, the light show from the stereo can be disabled by going through the settings menu on the receiver. There is a "Demo' mode that needs to be turned off, and the light show mode which is called "illumination effects" or something like that. Turned it off as well. My radio is behind a cabinet door on the FB, but I leave it open a lot and all that light was annoying. I also turned the dimmer to "on" and then the lowest setting.

Add FB to this thread or start a new one
This thread is a great idea. I was thinking about starting one for 23 FB as well, unless there is one and I've missed it somehow. But then I thought, so many systems are shared between the 23D and the 23 FB, I wondered if it would be worth asking about changing this to the '23D&FB' thread? Not meaning to muscle in but there's a lot of good info coming together here that is helpful to both models, and likely vice-versa if a separate 23 FB thread is started. If that's the preferred option though-- no offense taken!

Well, I guess I don't really care, but why not just go ahead and start a 23FB thread, too. We can always look back and forth, but still keep the uniqueness of each.

So, I installed all new electronics and a Battery monitor. The other day I did a test, where I ran all of the systems, in an Isolated manner, so I could record the amps each used.
I'm on a trip and left that darn paper at home, I will post it soon. But on the newer model(2017), there is NO phantom draw from the radio or subwoofer when off.
I will post the complete list when I get access to it (asking wife to send me a text with a photo of it)

No skin in this game, but having two different threads makes sense IMO, given how different the floor plans are.
If our FC20 had a front dinette model, I would support having two threads.
Happy Trails!

Thanks, but when the trailer's Use/Store switch is put in the Store mode, all the custom choices made to dim the radio disco light show are lost, and the darned thing defaults to its factory settings when the batteries are turned on in the Use mode. Too much trouble to go through the menus to kill it again IMO.

Here’s a Youtube walk-through of a 2017 23D by Colonial Airstream, very informative:
One thing that Patrick stated early in the video is that the 2017 models had 15" wheels and tires, never-lube axles and 12" brakes. That's a great model year improvement over the previous years running gear.

Really enjoying following the thread. My wife and I are coming up on 1 year of ownership of our 23D.
Had the pleasure of meeting Rob in Santa Fe on our first out-of-state trip! What a surprise to learn that we have the same home port in DFW!
We've loved everything about our trailer, but I do have one horror story to share on our lovely 2017 23D...
In February, we had just gotten her cleaned up after a weekend trip and I was pulling it to our storage. I had just pulled off of I-30 and onto a smaller city street when I look out the rearview window and see pieces of aluminum bouncing down the street behind me.
I stopped immediately (in moderate traffic) and saw that the fresh tank had dropped out from under the trailer and was dragging along behind by the fill hose and the tank level sensor wires
I said a few things I wouldn't share in mixed company and used some wire cutters to cut the hoses and wires free from the tank. Pulled the trailer over off the street and then emptied the waiter out of the tank so that I could throw it in the back of my pickup.
I didn't have the presence of mind to take any pictures. But it was a Sunday so I just went and parked it. I went ahead and called the AS customer support number and left them a lively voicemail.
So, turns out that all of the straps that hold on the fresk tank came loose after the bolts fell out. The repair shop said that apparently those bolts on the tank had not been adequately torqued and just vibrated out.
Airstream sent a new tank and all the components....ended up with a $0 repair bill...and now I have 5 straps (originally was 3, but they saved 2 of the old ones) and I'm pretty confident my freshwater tank isn't going anywhere.
Long story short, you might want to include checking the torque on those tank strap bolts to your regular maintenance routine!

Yep, the week we were there, the Santa Fe Skies RV Park had an above average number of Airstreams "in residence," ... but the nicest Airstreamers of the lot were "wingtipwalker" and wife and dog (reluctant to use 'real names' lacking prior permission). We had a great visit and are planning a trip together over to our Favorite Mexican Food place in Fort Worth soon. Linda and I are really looking forward to continuing the friendship!

"Gap-osis at the top of the front wrap-around windows.
So, I'm wondering if we are the only folks with this minor-but-annoying problem: There is a 'gap' between the top seal of the Lexan wrap around window protectors and the trailer wall. That "gap-osis" allows water - and even worse, leaves and other debris - to fall between the window and the Lexan protector.
One would think that the original intent was that the top seal would have intimate contact with the trailer wall and would resist water and debris intrusion. Maybe, over time, some dimensions changed, or maybe they just quit paying attention.
So, here's the questions: Anybody (everybody?) else have this gap, and has anybody devised a satisfactory solution.
Or, should I just go think about something else?

Rob,
Mine has the same gaps, thought about adding a flexable rain gutter on the body that would contact the bulb seal, may work on that when I get home from Colorado.
Also, has anyone had an issue with the GFI breaker popping after a rain? It rained and snowed here all night, the breaker popped and would only reset for a couple of minutes then pop again. Replaced the GFI breaker today at Airstreams suggestion and it held for about 5 mintues then let go. I know somthing must have gotten wet but I cant find it.
Thanks,
David

My 23FB has a GFI outside outlet on the roadside rear corner that loves to get wet and pop the GFI...cheap cover does not seal well.

David,
I guess that you have already checked the outside 120-volt receptacle for dampness... I'll go out and walk around ours and see if there is anything else [more or less] obvious to check.

OK, David, I think that you probably have more "equipment" than we do, but the only outside 120-volt potential exposure is (1) curb-side receptacle, (2) AC power cord connection, and (3) inside refrigerator compartment. That's about the best I can do from here.
