On our first long trip in our new 23D from Michigan to Colorado. Made it to Fort Collins with no issues, then had a panel fall off during the drive to Steamboat Springs. What was surprising was there were only 2 brads holding this panel in place! Hopefully that is the only poorly installed panel. The fantastic views and weather have more than offset this little mishap!

Time for a couple screws to hold it and make it accessible.

If you get a chance, and if you have a kayak or canoe along, Hahn’s Peak Lake has always been great trout fishing for us. Used to be better camping before the pine trees were hit by the pine beetle. Last time there we camped at Pearl Lake CG, and loved it, but the fishing wasn’t as fun as Hahn’s Peak Lake. Love it there, hope you get cool weather. Steamboat Springs has really gotten crowded in the summer. Years ago you could get through town fairly quickly and easily. Not so much any more. It’s going to be 97 here today with high humidity. I totally wish I was where you are.

You should be able with a little prep, remove the speaker on that side and reattach the panel from the inside with a few short screws

That will allow you to remove it later if needed.

I just went out and took a couple of photos for you.
See photos below.
Thanks, Ronnie, for having a look and posting the photos!

My gasket kit came with some cut out foam blocks. That’s what I used. I didn’t know what they were for and nothing in the install directions stated it.

We only stayed 2 days. The snow melt was late and the mosquitoes were really bad. We headed over to Grand Mesa and it wasn’t any better, so we are outside Telluride today with a nice breeze on the side of a mountain. Click image for larger version

Checking in. Just got back from our longest trip so far in our 2015 23d. We went all the way up to Frankfort Mi. Went 2500 miles in 9 days. The new truck performed wonderful as did our Airstream. Thanks again for this forum and especially this thread as I learned so much about our trailer. All of the mods and hardening projects payed off as the trailer performed great.

Scott that’s awesome! I am glad you guys are out enjoying the Trailer and NEW truck.

We are headed to Yellowstone in Mid September (just the wife and I). That will be our longest trip to date. I prepping the trailer now in hopes of another flawless trip.

Thanks Ronnie, you’ve been a big help to me, and it payed off. We went to Jackson center and took the tour (fascinating), then to southern Michigan to visit her mom, and then way up north and drove the entire route M-22 from Manistee to Traverse City. Beautiful ride along Lake Michigan shore line! Stayed on Bear Lake where we camped as a family when I was young. Been 42 years since I’d been there...lots of memories.

I’ve been reading your thread about Yellowstone as we hope to get there some day. Good luck not that you need it.

We are planning another 3or4 day trip before Natalie goes back to school/work. We are thinking maybe southwest va or eastern Tennessee. Not sure still planning!

Still learning about travel long distances, short weekend destination trips are easy compared with longer trips. Fun for sure though.

Wheel Bearings

I am being lazy here.

Can anyone (looking at you, Ronnie since you have a 2014--not sure if any axle change when they went to 15 in wheels and neverlub bearings) tell me specifically what wheel bearings and seals I need to buy for my 2014 23d? I want to check and repack, and know I need new seals to do so (gotta replace the seals when after you pull them off right? I have a seal puller), but I might also order bearings to have on hand if needed now, or in the future.

Prefer quality, Timken or Dexter OK I reckon? Want to avoid cheap chinese replacement off-brand stuff.

Thanks ladies or gents,

PK

Timken bearing sets (both #4 and #17) and seals (#441151) for the 10" brakes system used on the 23D and sold on Amazon
