Working on a Victron Battery Monitor install and thought I would share where I'm at in the process.

I purchased the Victron BMV-702 monitor and after reading reviews wished that I had splurged for the BMV-712 with built in bluetooth. Nice thing about the 702 is that you can add the dongle for Blue tooth capability, so that's what I've done.

Part of my dilemma is where to mount the Victron monitor, which requires a 2" mounting hole. I want it to be accessible, yet out of site.

Today I spent some time investigating the street side options, since that is where DC power comes into the 23d.

I looked at the forward overhead storage cabinet which has removable panels at both ends. The street side panel would have been a nice location, but there doesn't seem to be a clear path to run wiring from the floor to inside the cabinet, at least if there is it's not readily apparent to me.

At this point I've settled on the street side wardrobe.

Inside the wardrobe, there is a channel that runs from the floor (near the water pump) to the ceiling (2017 23d), and provides a clear path for wires, and a mounting surface for the Victron gage.

Airstream probably designed this pathway with something else in mind, but it should work for my purposes.

Victron provides a cable that will reach from the forward shunt location to the street side wardrobe with no problem. It's just a matter of pulling the cable under the lounge, and I don't think it will be difficult.

The monitor will mount inside the upper wardrobe, out of site, and yet be reasonably accessible. I believe the dongle plugs into the back of the battery monitor, so I will have to figure out where to mount it.

That's my plan. Still waiting for a few parts, but we'll see how it goes.

If/when you find out the laminate please post it here. I’m looking for this and the newer wall/cabinet laminate for the 2018 models. Been thinking about building a flip up counter top extension and converting the under bed storage to a drawer like Ultimate Airstreams did to the 19’ model posted a few pages back.

Mikentosh,
Verdict's In RK6003 Laminate Sheet, Abstracts - a Nevamar product is what I have so far, I found a guy at Airstream that helped. I am waiting for a call back from Robs contact (a few posts back) to make sure that is correct. I will order a 4x8 sheet, looks like about $100 including shipping.

That definitely looks like it! Thanks for the investigation.

If you happen to come across the wall laminate please let me know. I found the older, more gold toned laminate (Wilsonart Gold Alchemy - 4861K-07), but am looking for the lighter color that started in '18 ('17?)

Mikentosh,
Try 'Landmark Wood 7981K Laminate Sheet', Woodgrains - Wilsonart

Looks like it and matches name given in the airstream parts books for 2018 and 2019
Hope that helps

Worked on a few things today, got the shelf cut and installed at the end of the lounge, seems to work well. I thing we will use it a few days on a short glamp next week before I finish it. Plans are to use the same laminate as the counter tops on it, the one by the door and the shelf in the pantry mod. Planning another small folding shelf in the bedroom using the landmark laminate.

Looking good. Only thing I would suggest is to turn the shunt over so the plug in wires are facing down. This will prevent a stress point in. The wire and plug.

An Even Smaller Project

After making my little cutting board/colander thingy, it occurred to me that I could make a little bamboo insert to *really use* as a cutting board. I could interchange the bamboo cutting board insert and the colander insert as needed. Since I have the MDF template for the bamboo insert, I can make new ones as I booger them up by actually cutting on them... all it takes is a $4.49 WalMart bamboo cutting board and five minutes on the router table.

I'm deep into totally insignificant stuff, here...

Mikentosh,
I ordered a sheet of the countertop laminate today, will have some left. If you order the wall laminate we might could swap out a quarter of a sheet or so if you need any of the countertop stuff.
