Thanks pcskier, not my idea just my version. RFP came up with the idea after someone else posted about a water leak inside their trailer from a broken valve. Thought I better do this while I was replacing a leaking valve. This was really easy to do when you have the bed out.

Weird stuff, definitely more than one way to skin a cat!
Thank you for posting. If you didn’t post about this, a lot of us would have never thought about breaking a valve till it happened. I shopped awhile till I found the best container to use maybe 6 bucks, then I followed RFP by reinforcing with aluminum angle, rivets and screws!

We found what we wanted 23d, just happened to be a 2015, at a dealer. The new ones were too much money for me. We lucked up as the one we found was hardly used, really couldn’t find no signs of use. Original tires(first thing we replaced). The threshold at the door didn’t even have no scuffs that we could see. I was nervous still a lot of money for something I new nothing about. The salesman assured us that this was a good one and everything worked as it should. Also he said if it don’t he’d fix it. I’m thinking he gave us a short warranty 3 months maybe more. We have been really trouble free only a leaky valve that I just fixed. I know, we really haven’t used ours much, just getting started, just three weekends last year. I would think if you bought used you might expect to up grade or even find a couple of needed repairs.
If from a individual I would want to see it set up and demonstrate that everything works as stated and go from there.

Planzman,
You are going to need to look very closely at the flooring under the shower and around the door and under dinette. You can look under the shower through the rear storage area if you are flexible. Also make sure to check all systems and make sure they are in working order. Refrigerator on both electric and propane. Water heater electric and propane. Water pump, fantastic Fans, AC, check battery voltage of batteries with trailer disconnected from power. Lights, tank monitors, all the outside stuff, breaks, tires awnings, outside shower, bellypan.
Where in GA is the trailer I may not be to far from it to take a look?
I that’s a lot of info, but it’s a lot to check, and this is just the high points.
Thanks
Ronnie

Get a policy that uses “agreed value” and use an appraisal to get that number. Search forums for “agreed value” and you should get lots of hits...

As I understand it, starting with model year 2012, all Airstreams were sealed where the rear bumper goes into the aluminum rear end cap. Before 2012, there is a possibility of water intrusion through that joint. Probably only a small percentage of pre-2012 Airstreams ever leak there, and doing a proper preventive-maintenance seal is an easy weekend project. Other than that, just be sure to see what works and what doesn't.
As you would suspect, we on this thread think the 23D is a great floorplan, and the Safari you are considering falls into that same category... I'm betting you will love it.

I’d be glad to help.

Looking to purchase FC 23cb
I am new to the forum.
This past Memorial Day weekend we rented a flying cloud 20' with the corner kitchen and pulled it with our converted 170 2500 Sprinter van.
It was so much fun that I am considering buying one. We looked at all of the models and the 23cb seems to be the best layout for us. Four kids 14, 10, 8, and 3. Now I am debating between continue to rent ($350 per night including everything) or buying one. And if we buy, getting it used vs. new.
I saw a 2017 Flying Cloud 23cb for sale listed for $60K from a private party first owner. I have no idea how much I should be paying assuming good condition.
Thanks in advance for all of your help and comments!

Here is my well thought out recommendation, Continue to rent. Here is why...
(1) You have 4 kids, and you dynamic will change a lot.
(2) If you have a convenient place to rent you do not have to worry about storage or maintenance
(3) 350.00per night is equal to 171 nights ( how much are you going to use it per year)
(4) cost of.... Batteries, insurance, storage, tires.
(5)...... HECK I don’t know. You can’t make any of it make sense if you look at the $$$... Buy the dang thing. I did and have enjoyed it more than most of my purchases!

Grayson Highlands State Park
Just got back from our first trip of the year. Grayson Highlands State park. Everything went great but did have a couple of glitches.
1) tv antenna handle came off in hand,it’s cracked needs replaced.
2) rear storage compartment lock froze. Had to remove bed to get stuff out. Will take lock to locksmith to see if he can get it to work before looking for a replacement.
3) had to use furnace at night. First night set furnace for 65 degrees and it cycled a few times before bed but at 400am heat woke us at 81 degrees. Next two nights worked ok.
Had a blast! Hiked some first day came back to camp and met a couple, George and Lisa, that liked our dog and long story short they invited us back to there site to listen to some bluegrass music. Turns out they are friends of Wayne Henderson him self. Second day went to Wayne Henderson guitar festival.

FloydCoVa we Picked up our ‘18 23cbb at Out of Doors Mart! Not used enough that the tape on the fridge shelves were still in place and Smelled like new inside. We have taken a few trips in her so far all's well. This is A GREAT model as we were originally looking at the 25 twin. Sleeps 4 with ease with plenty of room to still get around.
Hard to find model anywhere used so if you can swing it I would not hesitate as the good ones get gone fast.
