Just got my first airstream...How do I....?

Happy to say after eight years of looking I finally got a 1969 Land Yacht Globetrotter. How do I get the measurement size? Is it the total length from bumper to ballhitch, or just the cabin itself?
The cabin in about 17'; the tow hitch is about 2'; and I'd say the bumper sticks out about a foot or so.
I need a new rock guard for the front window, and hub caps, too.
Also, is there a links for specs? I don't even know how much it weighs and what I need to drag it.
And what's the best way to polish it?
Thanks for any help.
Mike

Welcome to the forums!

Welcome to the forums Mark! Length is hitch to bummper. There is a pdf somewhere on weights and so on. I will look for it later OR you can use the search function and find tons and tons of information on all your questions. When you get a chance post some images of your new coach!

Your official length is 21' and I believe it's original weight was 3330 (dry).

Welcome to the forums - you'll find the search function to be your new best friend.

Polishing - you don't want to open that can o' worms - search polish and see what I mean.

on edit: I guess AZ beat me to the punch - that's a great resource.

Welcome to the forums!

Congrats on your Airstream purchase! Post pictures, we love pictures! This is the best place to find out all the answers to your questions and get lots and lots of opinions!

I would suggest for the parts you are looking for, check our classifieds, and if you don't see what you want, post a "wanted" classified! Also check ebay, and the various vintage airstream suppliers. If those things don't work, check out other folks who have the same year model as yours and send them a personal message and ask them where they have found parts!

Good luck and have fun camping!

Congratulations, Mike in CA-
I also just got a 1969 Globetrotter-about 2 months ago in my case. The interior is in a shambles right now as I refurb it, but I wll try to attach a picture or two of the exterior which seems to be in very good shape!
