How do you measure a AirStream?

My 1975 ARGOSY 24 is 22 feet inside, and over 26 feet from hitch to bumper...I am not sure where the 24 foot comes from....How does airstream measure their trailers?

For whatever reason, AS typically put numeric designations on their unit that are misleadling.

My FC 23 FB is actually 23 feet and 11 inches.

Go to the current specs, at the Airstream site, and you'll see what I mean.

Measurement is total length of the trailer. Looking at your pictures in the registry, I would guess that you have a 26 foot Argosy. The 24' unit only has one window on the curb side. Yours has two windows which is found on the 26' Argosy. The size of the unit should be part of the VIN. Does it say 24 or 26?

Airstream measures from the tip of the hitch to the end of the bumper. That said, the model nomenclature is nominal, not the exact measurment. There are 27 and 28 ft trailers that are the same length. many 34 footers are closer to 35. We have a 32', 1988. I have seen these referred to as 31 and on a recent trip to Jackson Center they had it listed on the invoice as a 33? I asked and they said "..oh, that is just what we call those in the shop".

The VIN has 24, that is why I am confused. And it is a 1977, not sure why I typed 75....

I agree with azflycaster, that's an Argosy26. My '75 Argosy24 only has 1 window on the curb side (over the curbside bed) and 2 on the street side (at the galley sink and over the streetside bed, mine's a twin-bed floorplan... if it were a double, the 2nd streetside window would be in the middle of a set of cabinets/closets.)

Fantastic that your trailer has been "in the family" since it was brand new!

A24R7S5350 and 26T7S5349. and with airstream's serial number infomation...the second is the right one. Center twins rear bath.
Maybe they mislabeled one of the plates?
