Have you found a source for the odor?

They use these in car dealerships for stinky used cars. Ever wonder why a used car can smell so fresh?? It's the ozone machine.

Good luck.

Yep - You're on the right track.

But what I had in mind was an "industrial-strength" machine that a car dealer or professional detail shop would use; a really heavy-duty rig you would likely rent at a tool rental store. Compare this machine with what the pro's use.

Hi Jay,
I am looking on youtube for how to videos for the gray water vent, there is something in my rv, in the the access panel to the right of the frig that looks like your picture, could this be it or is it located on the roof? Also, you mentioned you purchased at hardware store, I assume it would have to be in a rv section that the hardware store may have otherwise rv prodocts store? Thanks in advance!

Here is a picture of how the vent ties into the rest of the plumbing in our Bambi. This shot is taken through the outside access door into the storage space under the bed. The plumbing you see coming from the left drains from the shower and then on past the vertical section of pipe that you see and down through the floor (not seen) into the grey water tank. The vent simply screws into the top of that vertical section of pipe.

The location of the vent may be different in your trailer but the basic plumbing configuration should be the same - at the top of a short vertical section of plumbing that is tied into a T shaped fitting located on the floor of the trailer. The plumbing schematics in the Airstream manuals that came with your trailer might help out.

In our trailer that vent is reachable (with a bit of a stretch) from the access door where I am taking the picture - otherwise I would have had to remove the floor of the bed (seen above the vent) to get at it from the interior of the trailer. It should only be hand tight.

Once you get a whiff of what the inside of that vent smells like you will know if you are in the right ball park .....

Take the old one into the hardware store to make sure you get the right size - I believe the vent is threaded for a 1 1/2 inch fitting but best to be sure. This is a basic plumbing part - it is not RV specific - you will find it in the plumbing section of the hardware store.

Hope this all makes sense - that it is helpful - and that you can get your musty smell chased down and eliminated!

Good luck!

Jay
