Wrote my letter to AS. The corrosion showed up within the first 30 days of owning our trailer.
They are going to put the light casings on. I just have to get my trailer to the local dealer.
Looking forward to seeing the pics of them installed.

Jeff

Jeff, are you treating the corrosion your self or is the dealer also doing that for you?

Well my replacement wheels were installed today so that takes care of everything Airstream is going to do. Doesn't solve all my corrosion problems by a long shot but the rest is mine I guess.

I finally looked over the door hinges and taillights. No new corrosion since I dealt with it last year. Hooray!

Red face

Five new small spots found during Spring get-ready.

No rivets or seams involved.

They were all centered around the upper streetside clearance light, high on the curved panel.

No evidence of chipping, just the spider lines breaking thru the clear, very similar to the ones I found several years ago on the rear end caps. Cleaned out the powder, smoothed down and covered with the clear gel-coat that I posted about earlier. Interesting stuff. comes in a tube, squeeze out on brush and apply, dries rock hard. We'll see how well it lasts.
Most all previous spots that were treated and clear-coated have held up well. A few areas where the clear was peeling needed re-coating, but thats not too unusual after the long Winter.

Good thing?....they out'a site, almost

Bob

I was sent a can of Boshield. (the stuff made for aircraft.)

So,, I guess it's my problem to deal with. I was hoping the corrosion issue would be covered for 30 days.. Oh well.
They are going to put those running light bases on for me.

So I treated my lights today. I used corrosion x then I made some temporary gaskets. Hoping airstream agrees to send new trim and gaskets. When I loosened the lights I found it wasn't only the light casing that was causing the corrosion but also the screws. Every single screw was showing signs. I hope the"x" is enough for now to stop any further progress.

The light is turned vertically and you can see the corrosion is not just the edges where the casing cut thru the clear coat but also the screws.

If all you did was spray it with CorrosionX it will likely make no difference.

Thanks Al, yeah I'm trying to wait til I have all the part before I seal. Just don't want it to get worse. Was yours treated by the factory and if so, do you know what their process is?

Hi, this is so sad that Airstream created a new corrosion problem with the new LED clearance lamps. I think Airstream should take care of the skin problem.
