? correct way to measure A-T

What is the correct way to measure an Airstream Trailer?

Is it correct that Airstream changed from inside measurement to overall.....rear bumper to hitch?

If so.....what year was the change and what models?

reason for question: I'm inquireing about a trailer and the owner said that it could be a 29' or 31' depending on how you measure.
He's selling it as a 1984 29'.

Thanks......Steve

measurement

Trailers are listed by the measurement from rear bumper to ball. Sometimes people will use the skin measurement but the manufacturer's go from bumper to ball.

There is a code in the serial number that will tell you. Airstream has a page on their website to decode it:
