City Water Not Making it to the taps/shower/toilet...

Okay.....yesterday the water worked, today it doesn't. I didn't move the trailer, hoses, etc., and yet no water. Any suggestions? It's a 1996 Classic 34 with side bath...

Thank you,
Lara

Frozen hoses? Disconnect the hose from the source, to see if water is running out of the hose bib.

Welcome to the forum, Lara!

Depending on the lowest temperatures of the last few days, and the steps you took to protect the AS from freeze damage, you could have a variety of problems, I am sorry to say.

What have been your low temps, and what winterization steps did you take?

Good luck,

Peter

My apologies for the lack of background data.
1. Temps didn't get below 40F.
2. This is the second time this has happened in the past month. First time it was the day we were leaving a campground; when we rehooked the water up it worked (drove ~60 miles, mostly expressways).
3. This time I leveled the trailer (lowered the nose a bit).

I'm wondering if a check valve has an intermittent fail.

Thank you,
Lara

That sounds about right. The spring maybe getting old and going cock-eyed as the water hits it, causing the plate, (that's what i call it) to stick. Release the pressure behind it, give the valve a good tap and try again.

Cheers

So I should tap the valve? Time to break out the massive AS manual and locate said check valve....after taking pressure of the valve first.

Thank you,
Lara

The check valve (if original) is built into the water inlet in a 1996 34'. You can see this in your manual. Look at the schematic drawings on sheets F18 and F19.
https://www.airstream.com/wp-content...-manual-82.pdf

I've had sand and debris build up inside the pressure regulator and block water flow.

Another possibility: Have you drained and flushed the water heater? This should be done each year. Scale and debris can build up inside the HW tank and then get pushed out into the plumbing pipes, valves, and screens, stopping water flow. Remove the aerator from the kitchen and lavatory sinks to clean the screens. The same with the shower head.

Again, thank you for your advice and knowledge. It's been a busy few days here, but tomorrow is the day I'll attack this issue in earnest. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thank you,
Lara
