Carpet

Well this propably is not a new thread but want something more up to date. In the new year Jan next month will start the tear out of my carpet to make way for some birch flooring. Question is what is the best way to cut out the carpeting. Should I cut around cabinets and leave it under there and of course take out carpet up to walls and every where it can be, take up tack strip and all, I don't really want to take up cabinet and beds and all. What's the best way?, Help.
Happy Holidays to all.

I haven't done this myself yet (the day will come). But, the received wisdom is that you can cut it around the cabinets. There's no reason to remove the cabinetry unless it has to come out for some other reason.

I am having my floors replaced and everything has to come up..cabinets, couch, etc. Many people who have replaced thier carpeting say the same thing. This is more than cutting out a few floor pieces at home. you will need to be able to put down the flooring and have to replace all molding. It's a big job.

I can't imagine why you would remove cabinetry unless the carpet had gotten wet. We cut around cabinets and bed to replace carpet with Brazilian Walnut flooring. Has been down for a year now and still looks great!
