Question Bike Rack Suggestions for 16' International

Wow....I just registered yesterday....asked a question and today read 12 responces....thank you sooooooooooooo much.

New question: Has anyone attached a bike rack to the back of their 16' International? Air Stream advises against it but the plan is to add an additional support for the receiver and additional support for the bumper then attached the receiver with U-bolts. I found a bike rack under 20lbs made by Yakima which would make the total weight including two bikes around 80 lbs.

It's not the static weight of the bikes and hitch that is the danger but the weight created by the shaking up and down motion when under way. That 80 lbs can increase 3 fold and more creating the possiblity of the coach shell to separate from the frame. 'Perhaps' that may not be a problem with a 16' coach....I don't know. Airstream has just introduced a bike rack specifically made for Airstreams but again I'm not sure if it's for you.

It looks like any international from 2001 up will work. Nice looking rack.
