In NM, and I'm sure other states, you can title a vehicle that you do not have a title for by posting a assurity bond which is actually a insurance policy for DMV in case someone comes forward who has a claim on that vehicle. It is cheap and in NM the catch is the vehicle cannot be resold for at least 3 years.

Another long shot but a technicality NM DMV hit me with is a particular statute used the verbage "motor vehicle". DMV told me since a trailer does not have a motor it is not a motor vehicle and the laws which apply to motor vehicles do not apply to trailers. Just a thought.

I had found a one year old 19' Bambi for sale in N. Florida...asking price $12,000. The trailer had survived a hurricane but only had small dings similar to hail damage. It looked excellent and the interior was perfect. The trailer had been "totaled" by the insurance company, probably because the cost to repair or replace the panels was beyond the value and the owner wanted a replacement.

The current owner had bought it at an insurance sale and was using it as a guest house. However, since it had been "totaled" it could not be titled or licensed in the state of Florida.Perhaps it could be titled in another state but that was beyond my risk/experience.

Perhaps this unit is in the same predicament.

Almost always sunny here unless there is a hurricane bearing down on you. And then it's time to hook up the burb and roll. So far I've been very lucky.

Bambi is owned by the owner of the scrap yard. It is not for sale. It is not scrap. I'm bummed not getting a Bambi, but happy that it is not scrap.

Zep,
Hope you did not make the drive down there.
This will get your juices going again.....Google Earth the ramp at Kirkland AFB. You will like the "Black" spot.

Question Good News

Zep,

Should we expect a new member here?
Did you get the impression they knew what a special trailer they had?

No, I was ony able to talk to the front office Admin. I do think it's worth pursuing.
