Greetings Welshman
You might give us a bit more information, like year etc. to get more feedback.
But, depending on the year, the sizes started at about 15ft, and went to 34feet.
The Ambassador is considered a big trailer, with 28 or 29 feet, depending on the Year. This is measured from tongue tip to bumper end, and is approximate.
"International" designates a trim and option level. This was more important in the 60's trailers, as they had actual differences in functionality. In 70's trailers, it's mostly visual, and trim etc, and often loaded with more options than the simpler "Land Yacht" models.
Basically, Airstream has attached names to their different size trailers.
A good overview is here: http://www.vintageairstream.com/archives/index.html
Another one is here:http://www.insideout-design.net/maxwell/
click on links and features, to see how the time line evolved to 1979

Welcome to the forums!

Hey, he is looking at the pinical of Airstream design and size. Everything else is just a TT. Just kidding.

Sheri's link will give you a good idea. Uwe's link to the vintage Airstream page will give you an idea of the interiors. Overlander64 has a great rundown on the different trim levels too.

Another resource that you might like to check, particularly if you are cosidering purchasing a coach is the Airstream Weights and Measures page. The page provides the empty weights, hitch weights, and ball heights for most Vintages of Airstream coaches. The one point to keep in mind in when perusing the table is that the weights are empty weights and do not include any options, fluids (water/LP, etc.), nor personal possessions. As an example, my '64 Overlander is listed as having an empty weight of 3,930 pounds with an empty hitch weight of 405 - - the actual empty weight (with optional equipment) is 4,440 pounds with an empty hitch weight of 515 pounds; while typical gross traveling weight approaches 6,100 pounds with a hitch weight of 750 pounds.

Good luck with your research!

Kevin

On topic of your off-topic, GT: names to spin a dream. . .Anglesy, Rose-on-Sea. This must be why I think I'd love to visit Wales, Ireland, Scotland, England. . .the names. Do you suppose the places are as lovely as the images their names suggest? Have you been there?

Yes they are as beautiful and quaint as they sound. When I was a little girl I spent many a visit at my "Nines" Welsh for Nana She live right by the Menai Straights - we spent lots of time by the Sea Shore. My most favorite Aunt My Dads elder sister lives in Rose-On-Sea and I have visited many times.

Our family imigrated in 1968 we took the last voyage of the Empress of England I was only 7 but I have an unusual memory and can remember when I was 4 and earlier. What an adventure that was! especially the sphere at Montreal from World Expo 67 held the year before.
