Airstream Length
I'm confused and hearing different things from different people. I'm looking at an Airstream Land Yacht that measures 25' (body only, not counting the tongue). Is this a 25 footer, or do I include the tongue, making it a 27 footer?
Thanks

All Airstream lengths are bumper to tip of the tongue. So it would be a 27 footer as you described.

Also be aware that many of the model lengths quoted may be up to a foot longer. For example I have a Classic 30' model. In reality it is 31' in length. Not to be confused with the Classic 31' unit which is also 31' in length. The difference in the two trailers is interior layout.
There are also many other units that are quoted as 25' or 27' units that in reality are 25' 11" or 27' 11" in length. If length is really important measure or get the specs.

Guess it all depends on how it was measured and titled.

According to my service manual for 1994 and 1995 Airstreams, it shows the following:
21' Sovereign = 21' 10"
25' Excella = 25' 11"
30' Excella = 30' 11"
30' Front Kitchen = 30' 11"
34' Excella = 35' 1"
34' Limited = 35' 1"

The body is 23+feet and total (bumper-hitch) is 26+ feet.

I believe I read or was told a RV length is supposed to be it's overall measurement, from tongue to tail. My '04 S-25' is really 25'11" T to T.
I think many RV makers 'loosely' measure the lengths of their trailers, probably for marketing...this is only a guess.

Our 34' is actually 34' 10" ... I guess the factory shrunk it a few inches from the mid 90s models.
Factor in the Hensley hitch and you can call it 35 feet and some change.

When I was looking to buy a vintage unit, the guy that ran the website listed only his trailers' skin length, which was very clarifying for me. The ad I responded to was: 1963 GlobeTrotter, 17' skin.

And mine is 7" 11.5" wide.
And 9' 7.5" tall with the A/C (8' 7" without). 21 footers in the 94-95 years are 9' 6" with A/C and 8' 5.5" without.

Overall length
I have the same question. I guess a better way to ask, as I do not have an Airstream here to measure, is how long is the tongue from front of Airstream to end of tongue and how long is the number from the very back to the end if the bumper?
