The camping mats that I have seen were ususally much thicker than 1/4in, more like 3/4in to 1in, which is too thick for the space.

We have a 6' x 2' piece of what I think is insulite (light blue foam - 1/4" thick for backpacking..) which was used once or twice in tent camping days.. Would be happy to bring it along to 29Palms to see if you could use it.. No charge...

Took my trailer to MEL this morning for a month of indoor storage. Need my warehouse space for Jan to stage a Tradeshow display.
On the way, I ran it over a nearby scale facility, and the results are in:

Trailer and Suburban: 10820 lbs
Trailer axle weight: 4760lbs
Trailer alone weight: 5280lbs
Tongue weight: 520 lbs

These weights include 1/3 tank of water, empty grey and black tanks, 3/4 full propane, and the sway bars/hitch brackets. The Suburban has a full tank of gas, bikes on top, and loose items in the back, but no driver. Trailer weight includes all pots, pans, dishes, utensils, cleaning supplies, full pantry, etc. and most of our clothing and towels that we take along on trips. The water heater is full of water, too. What is not included is a full water tank, and the food/drinks we bring fresh for each trip, plus misc. items such as books, personal items etc.
Now that I know how easy this is, I will definitely go back and get a second weight session once the trailer and truck are fully loaded.
I am quite pleased with these weights, considering that the original dry weight was around 4100 lbs, with a tongue of appr. 440lbs.
Adding a/c, dual batteries, wiring, grey tanks, and frame modifications did not add as much weight as I had thought. I am also pleased that my 6000lbs axle capacity is plenty to give me a healthy safety margin, yet a nice ride. Needless to say, I am quite pleased to be this close to 5000lbs, which was my target weight for the empty/dry unit.

Yes, they are 3000lbs each. New is a relative term by now, as they already have almost 8k miles on them and are 2 years old.

Not sure on the FCU Rally, although I will give it my best shot.
With business the way it is right now, I can't plans ahead very well. Springtime is often my busy time, and the FCU Rally would require a week's vacation. See how it goes, might just crash the party last minute.

Spent a few more hours on the trailer, to finish up the interior. Even though it is fully useable, there are lots of details that still remain to be solved, finished, designed etc.
Yesterday I installed new lower rub molding to the frond and rear of the Overlander. Aside from some small gaps where the rear curve is. it came out great. Eventually the rails will be polished to match the skin, and the screws will be replaced with Olympic rivets.

My Air conditioner has proven to be more than sufficient in 100F heat, even without the installation of the duct work, as I had it planned originally. It is a 15000btu home unit, vented and drained through the floor.
Here a few pictures of the ducting that transports the cold air from the unit under the bed to the front of the trailer, and also through the bedroom wall to a vent that is yet to be installed over the bed, and into the bath.
The silver duct will be flattened, insulated, and then boxed in with either stainless sheet or a wooden enclosure.
The opening under the stove needs some sort of a large eyeball nozzle, that allows airflow where desired. I have not found this item yet. Any pointers would be much appreciated.

From our fathers day trip to Lake San Antonio. This trip was a blast! We went boating, did a little hiking, and relaxed for 4 days. One night we set up our firedancer, lcd TV, and DVD player outside, and watched some concert footage.
I tried some after dark photography with a cheap tripod and 1sec shutter opening. Here the results:

Uwe, I'm thinking of giving my used rubrail to another '67 owner who needs it, and using new. Got any pro and con opinions on using new? (Looks easier to polish than the ribbed old kind) Where did you get it?

I had help making mine by Erasmo from MEL trailers. A strip of .040 with rolled edges is all it is. It will polish very nicely.
My advice, though, is that if your rubrail isn't all tweaked and twisted like my old ones are, then re-use it. I like the ribbed ones quite well, actually.
You can not buy vintage rubrail, apparently. It comes down to manufacturing it.
I tried without success to revitalize the ld rubrail, but after several hours of careful tapping and bending, it still looked like a relic from the titanic.

Thankyou - look for my update in the next couple of days - my front gaucho is FINISHED! And Lew Farber (lewster), Ken Levan have had a great couple of days - put my new A/C on, put a new awning on Ken's trailer - ate some good food, lots of great laughs and generally a good time.

Camped in my trailer next to lewsters last night - nice and cool - in more ways than one.
