27' and national parks
We're debating between a 25' and 27/28' airstream models. I've read on past threads that some national parks do no allow trailers over 25' in length.
Can those with a 27/28' trailer give parks they've had trouble with? Looking at Yosemite, there appears to be quite a few sites that limit trailers to 24', has anyone with a 27' trailer stayed in those sites? ( Campground & Campsite Information - Yosemite National Park) Lewis Lake in Yellostone would be another example. ( Campgrounds - Yellowstone National Park)
Despite those examples, it appears a 27/28' would not be a problem at most parks, but I'd like to know if that's not the case.

Here at Yellowstone you could not get into Tower Falls or Lewis Lake. Leaving only Grant, Bridge Bay, Fishing Bridge, Canyon, Norris,, Madison, Indian Creek, Mammoth, Slough Creek and Pebble. I suspect you could find a spot.
Pull a 31' and have always managed to find a spot in or very near any NP I was interested in.
Of course my rig has mysteriously shrunk to 30' when necessary...

rec.gov has, with every National Park campground, a detailed map which gives dimensions of their spaces.
Bottom line: most of the older campgrounds have more spaces for shorter rigs than the other way around, but you'll find that most of them have pull throughs for longer trailers.
If you've got questions regarding a specific park, go to that site and check it out. Only downside is, the longer spots seem to be reserved sooner, rather than later.
I've been to Grand Canyon's North Rim campground twice and know for a fact that there are spaces for longer rigs.

Don't hesitate to pull a longer AS. It's a rare day when we can't fit into a spot somewhere near where we want to go, even if we camp outside the park limits. So many folks have contracted "2-foot envy disease" after they buy and try their shorter AS and then visit folks with a slightly longer one. We were responsible for our good friend's purchase of a new 30 after they had dinner with us.

We have never been turned away with our 28' model, but you will find spots that require immediate decoupling of your TV so others can use the camp road, or are just too tight like Towers Falls or Lewis Lake mentioned above. When in doubt (first visit) call the rangers beforehand and tell them you are at the length limit and ask about which spots they know will be too difficult or inaccessible. I have not been given bad info yet and they know where the road curves, bordering vegetation, and maneuvering room are too tight.

I just had the concerns and bought at 25 foot Excella. It has been a great trailer but I found it a little to short. Now I want one a few feet longer. I was warned this may happen. Looking for a new AS, just part of my Airstream hobby.
