2014/15 land yacht

Has Airstream sold many of these?

Are there any owned by forum members & if so, what is the report on satisfaction.

We were hoping that there might be a new Land Yacht and a new Classic at the Houston RV Show this weekend, but folks who have been tell us that there are only 2 Flying Clouds and we've seen those at Holiday World RV.

So ... Any comments on the new Land Yacht?

Both Units you are mentioning.

Classic
New Classic For Sale - 2015 Airstream Classic 30A Twins

Land Yacht
Airstream Land Yacht For Sale - 2015 Airstream Land Yacht 28FB Front Bedroom

Most of the two above units are sold prior to their arrivals at dealerships. These two are in stock and able to be viewed.

I have been looking at the Land Yacht on the Airstream Website since it first appeared. It is a beautiful thing to behold, albeit quite pricey. The Land Yacht is billed as a 28FB. It is actually closer to a 27FB than a 28. It has always mystified me why Arstream classifies a 27FB as a 27 when it is actually 28 feet long, as opposed to a 28 which is actually 27' 11" in length. It has never made any sense to me that an Airstream 27 is, in reality, longer than a 28. Go figure.

All of this being said, if your desires demand the most exclusive Airstream model out there, the new Land Yacht just might be your cup of tea. Airstream has pulled out all the stops on the fit and finish of the new Land Yacht. The one thing that puzzles me is that this highest end of all Airstream Travel Trailers does not have the 16" Michelin LT tires. I noticed in the photos of the Colonial Land Yacht that it is sporting Good Year Marathons. It's kind of like putting re-caps on a brand new Mercedes Benz.

At an MSRP of $146,000, the new Land Yacht is $60,000 more than a Flying Cloud 27FB. That's equivalent to adding every conceivable option to a 27FB and buying a brand new high end tow vehicle.

The new Airstream Land Yacht may be the most expensive travel trailer on the market today.

I spent a few hours in a 2014 Land Yacht at Colonial Airstream in NJ. I could afford it, and I thought it would be the perfect trailer for a year long work hiatus. The cost wasn't an issue, but I wanted to feel comfortable in my decision to purchase.

The impression I got from actually being in one, is that it is very full. The extra large bathroom and the way the kitchen is laid out, it hardly feels like two people could stand up and have enough room to move around each other. I felt very confined. I'm by no means claustrophobic, but I didn't feel like I could spend extended periods of time in such a small space.

Once I got into the 27FB Eddie Bauer, which is almost the exact same layout... I felt the complete opposite. Wide open rear and lots of space.

I had my heart set on the Land Yacht until I spent some time in it... I would suggest doing the same and comparing it to a standard 27FB.

Thanks BASE729 ...
I'm no where close enough to Colonial to see the Land Yacht, so that's why I'm asking.

Hey, Patrick, do you know if many have been sold? And comments on customer satisfaction ?

The perfect '15 Classic for us would be a 25' FB twin. Owning everything from a '17 to a '28, the '25 is the best of all worlds. We would really go for the Cherry interior and the quality of workmanship of the new Classic. Most of the places we stay have back in sites with great views aft of the trailer, like here where we overlook the Colorado River. Our neighbors with front living areas all view their neighbors.

I wonder if this may be another one of Airstream's tests to see how it might be received and sell. There is a lot of discussion about the fit, finish, and quality of AS compared to the price. Perhaps AS has decided to build a unit with high-end quality and materials to test the market and see if there are buyers at a higher price point. There is a new 2014 priced at $109,995 at a dealer in LA, 2014 Airstream Land Yacht, Westminster CA - 113864007 - RVTrader.com.

I have looked at one and think they have shown that they can do finer work, but at a price! Just don't know if I could maintain it as I would be afraid of scratching the floor or damaging it based on where we go with our trailer.

I would really like to have that shower in my 27fb international. Wonder what the wife would think if I started knocking down some walls? A larger person does struggle with the small shower. My son is 6'2" and he doesn't think he can use the existing shower. If he had to, he could find a way. Just not comfortable.

The perfect one for us would be the Classic 30 with twin beds, but I totally agree - I would much rather have the beds in the front. Usually your view and privacy is always to the back of the campsite. We have the 27 FB Eddie now and have always enjoyed the privacy in our "living room" and kitchen area not to mention the views from there.
