We have been looking here and there for an Argosy Minuet for about a year. There doesn't seem to be much on the mid atlantic coast. We would realy like one about 20ft or less so the Minuet seems perfect. A fixer-upper would be good. any thoughts? I have loved these little trailers for so long and up until now we have camped in an apache tent trailer. Its been fun but I need a little more solid walls! Is there a publiction that lists sellers or are the classifieds my only option? Thanks
Best bet to find one is local ads or internet search. Here is one listed on the net. You can check it out. http://adcache.rvtraderonline.com/3/2/4/60860424.htm
Don't know anything about it. Just came across it in another forum. Good luck in your search.....
That Minuet showing on RVTrader is the same one shown on E-Bay. On the RVTrader site they are asking $9,000., on E-Bay the highest bid is $1,750 (I think), with reserve not met. Not being familiar with E-Bay, why do people make such low bids, if the seller is not going to let it go for less than the reserve? And how do you know what the reserve is?
Not interested in purchasing another Argosy right now, but learning about E-Bay.
Just for info. The last Argosy around here that I was familiar with was a 20' that sold for $7,000. That was last year.

Oftentimes the seller will list the item with a low "Opening Bid" to get the attention of potential buyers. Another reason is to keep the listing fees low, which are based on the opening bid amount. For an opening bid of $1 it's about $.30 vs $4.80-$40 if it would be, if the opening bid was over $500 (or more depending on how it's listed & under which catagories)
The "Reserve" is what they are actually willing to part with the item for...there is no way to know what that amount is until it has been reached or if they tell you.
Sometimes there'll also be a "Buy it Now" price which can be the same as the "Reserve", but doesn't have to be...it could be higher than the reserve...it's up to the seller.
Once the item sells, there is a second fee paid to ebay by the seller which is based on the sales price.
Hope this helps...

we love our minuet - but we looked for many months. When you find one be prepared to buy on the spot - they don't usually last long on the market unless there is something woefully wrong. It seems to me that there are many more minuets on the west coast - anyone know why?

This is what we found on that ... there is a way to know for sure what you have...
The Minuet was basically a replacement for the Argosy 20 that went into production near the beginning of the Argosy line in 1972/73. The Argosy 20 and Minuet are very similar trailers, and sellers don't always know the differences between the two coaches. The Argosy 20 was basically produced through the 1976 model year into the 1977 model year - - with the Minuet 6.0 Metre being introduced sometime in 1977. Both coaches share the same length and similar weights; but the big difference is in the width - - the Argosy 20 has a floor width (exterior) of 7' 8" while the Minuet series has a floor width (exterior) of 7' 0". It appears that the final year for the Minuet series was 1979, but I haven't found any definitive confirmation of this presumption.
The Minuets have experienced a significant increase in popularity during the past two years. For some reason, the Minuets seem to be somewhat more common in the Midwest and West. I first became intrigued by the Minuets about four years ago - - prior to five years ago I had never heard of the Model. Then about 18-months ago when I acquired the '79 Argosy sales brochure, it was somewhat of a shock to learn that there are three Minuets - - 6.0 Metre (20'), 6.7 Metre (22') and 7.3 Metre (24') - - the two smaller coaches have single axles while the larger coach has the tandem axle.
I tried it several times using the url/http flags, and everytime I did it left some of the address out for some goofy reason or another. So I just put the address in without the url flags so it could be pasted in.
And the Argosy is up to $2751 now.
