So, Dan, I'm wondering what your final bid was on e-bay? Since I saw it listed on the RV site for $9K and it was going for much less on the bidding. You can give a ballpark if you want. Wondered since many are selling for anywhere from $5K to $7K in reasonably good shape. Did you ever see the post I put on where one of the AS factory guys gave me the info on the original selling price of the Argosies? Kinda interesting Later...

Thanks for all your helpful hints! We have been looking. My husband has seen the renovations on Airstream forums and now wants to totally gut one and redo it so we have changed our focus to a 20 ft in "not so great shape" but with working electrical. (what do you expect from an architect!) We are still looking. there was a cheap one (I think it went for $1.9??.00 on e-bay) and we weren't fast enough so we missed it. I was VERY disappointed! I've been wondering what the loaded weight of a 22 ft is because our van can pull up to 3750 without distress. I just can't go over that weight so a 24 foot is out. any thoughts are, as always, greatly appreciated. THANKS Deb

The Minuet was available in three lengths - - 6.0 Metre (20 feet in sales brochure); 6.7 Metre (22 feet in sales brochure); and 7.3 Metre (24 feet in sales brochure). The smaller two Minuets were single axle coaches while the 24' Minuet was a tandem axle coach. The attached scan is from the '79 sales brochure, but earlier model Minuets were of similar weight and configuration.

The thing to remember about these weights is that they are empty weights without options, fluids, and personal belongings. My '78 Minuet 6.0 Metre weighs 3,100 pounds when loaded for an extended trip and has a hitch weight of 550 pounds.

Good luck with your search!

Kevin

Sure, I paid less than $7,000.oo and more than $5,000.oo there is another guy mentioned earlier on this subject that had one looked about the same condition maybe better because his had an awning but I went with Mark because 1- he was closer. 2-he was closer. 3- he said all systems working garenteed .. that ment something to me .... and He made aragements to deliver it to california . however just after sending him the money for delivery fond someone on line who would have brought it to my house for $200 less.. Keep in mind I could have purchased an airstream for this much ... however the principle of the thing.. people that are picking them up washing them and selling them for ten times as much don't get my respect.. or my money...

Happy Cinco Amigos!
On this topic, your opinion is valued.
However on the gentleman you refer to,
I must chime in.
Good guy, all around.
I see this whole business of buying and reselling as
a necessity of the Capitalist world we live in.
Sadly, no one has the time to drive through
back roads, rainy weather to rescue a gem
like an argosy or an airstream. Without such
folks, chances are an airstream owner to -be ,
would have to settle for something else or wait
longer to find one.
Once again, each mind a different world.
I respect all opinions.

I have a 79 Argosy Minuet by Airstream that I will selling very soon. I was going to wait a few weeks and put it on Ebay because I hope to get $6000 for it. Guess if I could see it for that I'd sell out right. I way going to watch it on Ebay and see how how it would go.

Mine is 7 ft. wide and 20 ft long. It sleeps four and all the appliances work. It has a shower, toilet and a hot water heater. When pulling this Vintage beauty we always get honks from other travelers on the highway. I'm sure all the Airstream owners can boast that one.

The camper only weighs 3300#'s and is easily towed by a 6cyl vehicle. We take our's everywhere. We camp regularly and are only getting rid of this because we just bought a larger camper to accomodate the family better.
