need desgn plans for front awning

2001 Safari front awning:
I am going to make a cover for the flip up stone guard front window to serve as an awning on extra sunny hot days. I purchased the matching awning material from Zip Dee. You sometimes see the covers on the older vintage airstreams because they have the same small front window as my 2001 Safari. I heard to use elastic straps to hold it on. At one time Zip Dee made them but not any more.
