Thanks for the thought, Terry, but the SOB (not some other brand) cheated my daughter out of nearly $2k.
I have his address and phone number and am seriously thinking about paying him a visit.
$2275 for that Argosy is outrageous. I hope the bidder backs out so I can just give the danged thing to charity.
I worked my butt off in getting it cleaned and ready to sell.
$2275 is an insult.

If he lives in the Southeast, I, and I am sure others, will be happy to accompany you on your visit.

He's in Chicago, Terry. I wish a forums member had bought this trailer. Twink was very interested but the beds were not long enough to accomodate his new father-in-law.
Hey, Twink is in Chicago and maybe has a number for a good hit man.

I feel like I've been robbed.
I will never ever sell anything on Ebay again.
Hindsight...maybe you should have set a "Reserve Price" if you wouldn't happy with letting it go for your minimum opening bid.

Sorry...

Shari, Ebay does not allow you to set a reserve on a relisting if the original auction did not have one.
All would have been fine if the high bidder had not been a crook.
The only recourse offered by Ebay is to suspend the bidder.
Big deal, they just enroll again with a new user name.
One of yznut's previous user names was hairyt--t. Why was he allowed to enroll?
I will never use Ebay again. Daughter now has to fight with them for refund of the fee for first listing.
They respond only with prematted form messages.
I guess maybe I am outdated. I still tend to trust people.
My bad.

Unhappy

Enough already! The auction ended more than 5 hours ago and daughter has not had a response from the winning bidder despite 3 emails. Is there a legit way of cancelling the sale?

Rog,

Unfortunately the High bidder normally has 3 days to respond. The bidder worked to win it based on the bid history. Unless he/she does not contact you back in the time allowed you have to wait to cancel the sale.

Not everyone is as consumed by all things Airstream as most of the members are here. We called the first day we knew that the sellers would be available, ours was sold by a tech school.

After a trip to the fridge..............

If you don't care about the fact that Ebay can kick you off for it, you can do what ever you want. But all the listing fees will be lost as well.

You talking to me or Vito!

Sorry to hear about the listing/auction Rog. I really liked that Argosy too...if only I could have chopped my quasi father in law down 6" or so.

Anyway....I hope it all works out in the end Rog.

You know...looking at it another way (not that I don't share your pain Rog....I do!)....that last clown bid it up with no intention of taking it. Perhaps the $4k was inflated based on the last guy just playing games. I know that I just tried to grab a 28' that was $2995 from a dealer...not sure if it was as good as yours cause it sold hours after hitting the lot at full price and I never got to get a real look at it besides web pics. Web pics looked good though. I was pretty bummed. It was a classic phone first commerical...drove about 25 miles to see it thinking...na...it'll still be there....who in Chicago pays attention to those silly freebie ad/ragsheets on their way out of Blockbuster...... guess I was wrong.

ok, I am sorry to vent my frustration here but I am just totally fed up with deadbeats. I think I can have daughter get me the new bidder's phone #. I am going to call him and tell him what to do with his bid.
Whatever happened to honesty and common courtesy?
Daughter is in a tough financial pinch and I thought the Ebay route would get the quickest results.
Wrong.
I guess there is no way of avoiding the Ebay fee so we will just eat that but that Argosy ain't going nowhere at that price.

Just out of curiosity Rog (not trying to be cute or anything here)....what did you feel would have been a fair price? As I said before I know yours was in good condition, but do you really think it was worth 4k? Not second guessing, but I was looking at a 1975 28' with working A/C unit and a few less (known) issues (not that by any means do I mean to suggest yours needed a lot.....I don't think it did) for $2995. If you really think it was worth $4k, I won't disagree, I just wanted to understand if that was just your price or you were just comparing it to the last auction of the deadbeat, in which case, it might not be a valid comparision since the deadbeat had no intention of pay, just bidding it up. BTW...you got any more info on that deadbeat from around here?

Eric, the coach was worth the $4169 that "won" the first auction. I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer but I know the value of AS trailers, thanks mainly to this site.
If anyone wants it for $3k, come and get it. No deposit needed and no commitment. Come see it and buy it only if you like what you see. I told summerkid when she bid on it that the last thing I want is a dispute or misunderstanding with any fellow forums member.
My email is rojohn1st@yahoo.com so don't be bashful with any Q's. Eaz-lift hitch included.
Overnight courtesy parking included but you will have to pee behind the trailer since the water isn't hooked up.
And yes Eric, I know the deadbeat's address but I ain't gonna go there.
