ID this trailer?

This is on eBay right now, and not too far from me. I came back from the vintage rally with a burning desire to do a vintage trailer and so I was surfing around on eBay. Anyway, the guy certainly doesn't give much info on this one. I can't even tell what year/length we're looking at. Anyone else care to take a guess? I'll be over cruising through the archives until I figure it out...

I'd say a '54 or '55 Cruiser. Very hard to tell what the length is without any side shots. The front windows and rectangular taillights are a good clue. Best of luck getting it Steph. The price is right so far.

I'm thinking it's pretty big from the distance from the front back to the post near the back. Probably a little bigger than I want to tackle. There's an avion on eBay too in Portland, only 22ft. Not that I would want to get kicked out of the club or anything

Ask Seller for the serial number

Stef: Ask the Seller for the trailer serial number, post it, and we'll figured out what it is from that. Does it has a single or tandem axles? I can't tell from the 2 photos.

If it's a 22-24 it not that much more then yours. Those 50's model 22's probly weigh about the same as your 17. 5 extra ft is not really a lot. It's not bad to tow and move around.
Go For it!

I'm waiting to hear back from the seller. He says he's going to email me some interior pictures today, along with the serial number. Hopefully I'll know more soon. He says he bought some property and it was on it, so he doesn't know how long it has sat there. That could make getting it home interesting.

He added this to the listing:

The model year is 1954. The vin # is 05002. The Oregon title # is 650550263

From the window layout I'm thinking it's a 30' model.

Stef:

Good eye! It's a 1954 30' Liner (soon changed to "Sovereign of the Road") that was the second 30-footer manufactured in Ohio and is listed as the first 30' trailer for the 1954 model year. Apparently the very first Ohio 30 footer was a late 1953 model. The "O" prefix to the 5002 serial number means the Ohio factory. The base model Liner cost $4,945.00 when new and weighed 4,050 pounds dry without any accessories. With tandem axles providing a strong platform, it would make a nice clubhouse for Rallies.

It appears that the exterior is "anodized."

If that's the case, it could be an Avion, or a Streamline, or possibly a Silverstreak.

I would advise looking at it before you buy/bid - pictures do not tell much. And, when I see weeds growing all around it, I think rust/rot. Not trying to be negative, just go in with open eyes. If it all checks out, would be a great project for ya.

Cracked open the old Airstream story book last night and located a picture showing the square taillights and the older Airstream plaque right where it is on the one for sale. Shoot, it might even be the exact same one in the book for all I know...
