Cool Great Tow Car for Sale

For all you Airstream motorhomers... if you're looking for an inexpensive, safe, reliable small car to tow behind your RV for your next vacation -- here it is!

I've got a '97 Ford Escort Sport, 4-door, for sale. My wife and I custom ordered it from the factory with ALL the options available at the time. It's got air, automatic, ABS, 4-wheel disc brakes, AM/FM Cassette AND Factory 6-Disc CD changer, rear defrost, power windows/locks/mirrors/steering/brakes, tilt, cruise, rear spoiler... probably forgetting a few more things... oh, yeah, alloy wheels.

Car has 58,000 miles on it. It's mint. I've got ALL the service records -- lots of preventive maintenance, and ALL Mobil 1 oil changes. Fantastic buy.

I'm asking Kelly Blue Book or best offer... (KBB says approximately $5,000 where I come from. A search on Autotrader.com finds many, many similar Escorts with higher mileage for $5,600 and up!!)

This one's gonna go fast. I've listed it in the Chicago Tribune this 4th weekend. Thanks!! I should have pictures to e-mail soon. e-mail me at littleradioproductions@comcast.net

Littleradio, What makes the Escort a "good" toad? Can it be towed on all fours?

Once had to rent a car in VA....got stuck with an Escort. It was not a dream to drive.

Thumbs up By far...

The car of "choice" is the SATURN...

Look behind the 'majority' of RVs on the road.

My guess is the second one would be the Jeep..

Wink Escort "toad"

The last iteration of the Ford Escort was a quantum leap from previous models. We bought ours over the then-new Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla after driving all three back-to-back at a test drive session.

The Escort you got 'stuck with' was probably most certainly an earlier model. They were decent, but not as competent all around as this model.

Regarding towing... yes. Thanks to composite body panels and powertrain components that are lighter, Saturns are probably more popular due to their lower mass.

I believe you must put the Escort up on a front-wheel tow trailer, at least, unless your trip is fewer than 50 miles or so... (I know, who vacations in an A/S just 50 miles away from home??!!)

Anywho... that's the story. Let me know if you have any more ?

thanks.

Just another input

LittleRadio

Back around 1980(?) when Escort first came out, we bought one of the station wagon, top of the line model, with leather, etc.
It was an exceptional car for the time. Great gas mileage as well.
Less than 2 yrs later we sold it and moved back to the Volvo 245 line.
During the time we owned the Escort, we actually 'saved' money.
Good luck on selling your's..
BTW, a major selling point for us was, to the new owner, was that it had not been smoked in.
ciao

Escort

I can say with a straight face, that this car is an uncommonly good little vehicle. A Mercedes-Benz it is not. Perhaps not even as good as a 2003 Toyota Corolla (but darn near close, I bet). But for the money, you can't beat it.

And yes, I'm a non-smoker with no pets.

Thanks!

Escort, Again...

Oh, yeah... I did forget a few options. The Escort also has dual airbags and keyless remote with anti-theft, and a neat remote trunk release button on the transmitter fob.
