Awning

Greetings Bob!

Welcome to the Forums and the world of Vintage Argosy ownership!

Thanks Bob.
When our coaches were new, there were several manufacturers who supplied awnings having support arms with the proper curvature for Argosys and Airstreams. Today, however, there is only one company that reliably provides awnings having hardware designed to fit our coaches. That manufacturer is Zip Dee. Zip Dee has developed a reputation of supporting its products far beyond the time period that is typical for the industry - - a big plus for our coaches. I tried keeping my original A & E Travel Awn 5000 functional on my Overlander, but after three years and nearly the cost of a new Zip Dee; I finally had Zip Dee awnings installed on the Overlander with no regrets to this day.

You can learn more about the Zip Dee awning products at:

Zip Dee RV Awnings

What sold me on Zip Dee awnings was talking to owners of Vintage coaches with various awnings. Without fail, the owners of coaches had nothing but praise for Zip Dee while owners with awnings of different manufacturers weren't always complimentary of their experiences in trying to obtain repair/replacement parts. Something to be aware of is that measurement is critical with our Vintage coaches. My Airstream dealer's technician spent the better part of two hours measuring and communicating with the Zip Dee representative before my awning order was considered complete.

Good luck with your search for the ideal awning!

Kevin

We just purchased an awning at Camping World. It ran about $450. Not entirely sure of the brand name but it doesnt make in the end i guess. The awning seems well made and has worked well thus far. It is a bit small though. Cant really help that as the trailer is only 20'.
