This is the one I inspected. Junk. Twice it was sold and twice refused by the high bidder as not as advertised. The owner changed his name and has put it back up. Be carefull with this one.
Still looking for my motor home.....28-31 ft, 82-99. Leads appreciated greatly!
I wrote the winning bidder of the second auction, and asked him if he had picked up his trailer yet. He never replied. Probably too p/o'd to reply. He could have saved himself the trouble if he had only read my report on that trailer in this forum. Junk then and junk now! I can't believe the owner is trying it again, with a new ebay name. Some people have no shame, I suppose.
"No Reserve" indeed.
After the third auction fails, I might offer him $2000 for it.
I have a friend living in Dallas that went to look at this trailer. It looks great in the pictures, but he said the same thing when he got there. It took him about 1 minute to decide on passing. PJ
Someone had the idea recently of putting together a list of members who would be willing to inspect the motorhomes/trailers that come up for sale, as long as it was not too far to travel. Expenses would be covered by the requestor. That's a great idea, and would lessen the danger of getting stuck. Anybody still putting that list together?
Bill in the Great State (and willing to do this in the North Texas/Gainesville area.)
That includes Texoma, where the current subject junk is located.
I am looking at the pictures and description and cannot figure the controversy.
I do think that asking for over 10K is questionable but not unreasonable.
What are the problems with the trailer?
What did you not like about the trailer?

Water damage obvious in front part of trailer. Floor rot, evidence of leaks, and pretty cruddy looking pipes under sink in rear. Sticky surfaces throuout the interior, trim hanging down, broken tambour doors, a/c didn't work, owner was heating trailer with stove top, light fixtures hanging down and inop......
Lets see......that was where I decided this one wasn't for me, so I quit inspecting.
History.....first winner turned it down as not as advertised.
Don't know what happened to second winner, but he didn't pick it up either. Owner changed his ebay name to auction it the third time, no explaination. I may be an amature to Airstreams, but I can look at a description, then look at the item and see if they match. This one don't.
I read the description. I don't think this is "one of the nicest 1978 25' Airstream trailers you will find". I guess I am not alone, at least 3 other people agree with me. (2 buyers and 1 other inspector). I pointed out the water damage to the owner. I don't see it in the description. Could be he did some work on the trailer, lights and such, but why the name change? I also notice no bids at $10000.
I'm not at all unreasonable, and for the right price, I'd jump on this one. I like doing that kind of work. And, I'm going to shoot him an offer. I doubt if he takes it. We will be seeing this one on ebay again, I figgure.

I almost 99% expect sticky walls, easily cleaned
I almost 75% expect broken Tambour doors
I almost 90% expect minor repairs on trim
I almost 99% expect floor rot of some degree
Cruddy pipes, same as sticky walls, poor maintenance.
score: 8 out of 10, the eye of the beholder
I almost 100% expect incomplete descriptions
I do not expect flat out lies! as in AC not working
I agree, 10K may be a little strong but I think it will sell for over 6K
I suggest as always, email is a beautiful thing, people will say anything verbally, they are hesitant to lie, (I did say hesitant), in writing. When I consider any long distance purchase, I riddle the seller with questions in writing.
As you gain experience in shopping for anything, your list of questions continues to grow.
Its too bad that this one is questionable. I think if the integrity of the seller was above board, he could sell this unit for close to 10K
People typically will agree to repairs and cost if they know what they are in for.

I have cleaned several and it always amazes me how good that vinyl clad holds up over so many years. I personally think that vinyl cald is one of the best inventions ever.
If you spray the degreaser on it, you can literally see the sticky stuff, mold, mildew, smoke and stains run right down the walls.
I have also read where people used a solution of bleach water.

I am extremely pleased with the orange-scent Scrubbing Bubbles product. It even came with a free sample of toilet bowl cleaner. In the picture, "before" is at right, "after" at left.
