'58 Pacer on Ebay

From what Inland Andy and others have posted, doesn't it look like the axle is shot on this Pacer? Can't see any of the tire above rim. Item number is 2426671604.

Maybe so but did they even use the Duratorque in 58'?

I am thinking they still had springs under them.

I found this info on the Inland RV site:

In 1962, Airstream switched it's suspension system from leaf springs to a rubber torsion principle.

So does this mean the 'no see upper tire/bad axle' principle only applies to '62 and newer?

The angle of the photo makes it hard to really tell about the ride height, but 41 year old springs could certainly be shot. They can, of course, be replaced.

I believe Andy once mentioned the Dura Torque axle could be retro fited.
