1997 Safari w/queen bed?

Hi,

Still trying to figure out what we want to shop for. We know it has to be 25-27' & we would like a permanent bed. Queen would be nice. Also, fairly new. Was there a Safari made in 1997 (and 1998, 1999 & 2000) that would fit the bill? Does anyone know?

All help will be very much appreciated!

'97 was the first year for the Safari, with only the 25' offered. No idea if the full size bed was available or if it was twins only.

In '98 they had three Safari floorplans, A, B, and C. One them was the full size bed (not really a queen, by the way. I don't have the dimension, but a true queen would take up almost the entire bedroom area).

The first year any other lengths were available was in 2000, and a 27' was offered.

As I recall, the early Safari models had a rather limited grey or black tank, or maybe both.

The early "new style" Safari's only had rear stabilizers. I think they went to 4 in 2000. The stabilizers used prior to 2002 were very small, almost identical to the ones used in some pop up campers. In 2002 they switched to the same style as the Classic trailers. I had mine retrofitted in the summer of 2002 up at Jackson Center. It made a big difference in the stability of the trailer.

We have a '99 25' Safari with a queen. I think the grey and black tanks are 35-40 gal, as is the fresh water tank. Biggest advantage of the Safari is the weight - much less than the classic or Excella. We were using a Grand Cherokee to pull it, and when we decided to move up we get a much bigger Suburban.

If you are interested, we are thinking of selling our Safari to get something a bit longer, like a 30'. Thats the reason for the big sub.

Elliott,

Yes, we'd be interested in your Safari! Where, when & how much? We have an F-150 w/the big engine, but need to get brake controller & hitch (we have receiver & electric - tow package offered by Ford). Let us know. Direct e-mail is cogancpa@abac.com

Thanks!
