I found this PDF on Airstream's website that shows all the trailer weights:

The 1975 Sovereign with a center bath and rear double bed weighed 4970 with a 690 hitch weight.

I'm rated for a 6000lb trailer with 600lb tongue weight without WD hitch etc. Wonder if this could make a one way 200 mile trip.

Caveat emptor

This appears to be a very nice unit but the hail/tree damage is substantial. Thus the salvage title.

Exclamation

My previous post was edited by a moderator. I repeat my offer to inspect this coach free of charge for anyone interested. The salvage title should draw a red flag but I'm willing to keep an open mind.

salvage title

Did you ever go see the airstream damaged by tree? It does not look like a total.

Offer retracted.

I will have no more to do with this ad.
Use your own due diligence.
Sorry that I rattled someone's cage.

In my very first post and my very first sentence I make it very clear of the damage. I also posted a picture (my very first picture)

If you would like to see a very very large version of this picture you may download it here:

I have actually been trying to hold my tongue. I am not trying to hide anything except that fact that in the Airstream community I have what some might consider recently famous parents

I wanted to sell the trailer/van combo on my own given their merits that we have worked very hard over the past years to keep the trailer and van in the best condition possible. Unfortunately my neighbors tree did not cooperate with us.

Patricia, I hope you received the pictures of the Van. Should you have any questions, please feel free to call me. Again, my number is (810) 714-2509.

Again, to reiterate. The trailer does not leak. We have been told by those in the know who rebuild these trailers that a lot of this could be fixed either on a very hot Arizona day, or by applying heat and plunging it out.

Woodland Travel (in Grand Rapids) gave a very high estimate to repair the costs to my insurance company. It was barely over the value of the trailer and the insurance company did not want to deal with it. For us to spend the money to fix what is essentially cosmetic damage was not worth it. If I were older and a full-timer I would have gotten fixed.

i had an auto dent company come and pull giant dents out of my 71 safari that were in about the same place, musta been a tree too previous to my ownership, maybe that is why the dead squirrels were in there, lol, you could still see the dents somewhat, but i was amazed because it did not leak, at least not there, lol ...do you still have this...

say hi to those famous parents for me from the lady in michigan who has 8 children...i think they will remember me for that....

Thanks for the post, I'll make sure I pass it on. I have a pending sale for both the van and trailer on the table right now. While we are sad to see the Airstream leave our family (it was like stepping back in time for me) we are confident it'll be a wonderful experience for the new buyers.

I'll let my parents know, they are getting ready to pull out of my driveway and head to Chicago any minute now. The grandkids are very unhappy and spent most of yesterday trying to convince them they should take them to disneyworld instead.
