Shari, I am hot on the trail of the owner of this GT in my area. It is sitting by the road with no For Sale sign on it, but the neighbor says there was a sign on it which has been removed. She thinks the owner may have just recently passed away. The price that was on it is VERY reasonable.
She knows the owner's name but not his phone number or address. The house is vacant. I have called all other people with the same last name in the area but to no avail.
I left a note on the trailer with my name and number several days ago but someone has removed it (possibly another interested party). My next step will be to go to the courthouse to see if I can get info on the property owner.
The trailer looks really sharp and has been stored in a pole barn. Note the awnings.
If I can locate the owner and the price is right, I'll buy it in a heartbeat
Any other ideas? Anyone?

The WBCCI #7446 is one that is currently listed in the 2004 Directory...coincidently, the member's last name is the same as mine! However they live in Florida, not Michigan so it looks like it's been reassigned or their old trailer.
Good luck in your quest Rog...

I've noticed that in photos of Maxwell, the 64 GT on Ebay, the one on Vintageairstream and the one I'm looking at that there is no tire showing between the rim and wheelwell. This would seem to put them in the "bad axle" rule of thumb category as explained by Inland Andy and others.
Yes? No? Maybe?

Ok, I have to say I don't care much for the fabric in Maxine. The shot of the couch, pillows, curtain, and bathroom curtain all in that flowery pattern is kind of freaky
Love these old GTs with all the windows down the side though, that's just like my Caravel, only a little more trailer to love! Good luck getting the GT Rog. In my state you can look up property owners online. If you have the house address you can go from there and get just about anything else you'd like to know.
If the owner died without a will though, the estate could be in the process of being handled by the courts, which can hold things up for a long time as the process goes through. I am almost finished with my aunt's estate, and it took from November until May to get the house sold, mostly because of court delays. If there are squabbling heirs it can take longer, and a family member may not be in charge of the estate, the court may have appointed a representative. I'd write a letter to the house address, because the person in charge of the estate might be having the deceased's mail forwarded to them.
FYI- A new axle is on our list of things to do in the next year...Maxwell is still a work in progress and has the original dura-torque axle.
Shari
I wasn't criticizing, Shari, just curious. It seems odd that all 4 GT's would have bad axles.
If the one I'm looking at needs a new axle, that puts a damper on my enthusiasm.
I guess maybe I better go crawl under it before proceeding.
Anyone bidding on Maxine might want to make note of same.
