Lisa... just tell him that one of your Forums friends says it has no value, but that he'll give $200 for it and come and take it away for him... whaddya think? just let me know!
Actually, it will bring what the market will bear; depending on it's ACTUAL condition, it is worth from $2000 to probably about $12,000 fully restored. Even if it's in showroom condition, it will probably need a new axle at the very least if it hasn't already been replaced. They are in demand because of their light weight and small size. I sold a '61 Bambi about five years ago in really nice condition with the original appliances and bath for a little over $6,000. I haven't kept up with recent sales, but I don't think they've appreciated too much since then, they just get scooped faster.
If there's anyone out there with better, more recent info, feel free to jump in here...

I tlaked to someone at the Socail in CA a couple weeks ago who'd spent $5000 on one that needed a new floor and a couple panels on the street side replaced. He was still happy with his find! So I'm guessing the value on one in truely excellent condition would be fairly high. I think your guess of $12k isn't out of the realm of possibility. I believe there was one being offered on theVAC classifieds a few weeks ago for $14k.

Hey Folks,
So sorry for not responding to messages, I've been CAMPING!
I haven't had a chance to speak with the owner of the Bambi, but I know he was thinking in the $10,000 range for it. but don't quote me. We are in Lee MA in the Berkshires and I will speak to him this week.
I have not seen the trailer yet, but will give you a full report when I do.
At that point I will also list his phone # and e-mail address so you can reach him yourselves.
As far as towing with a Volvo ( one of my earlier questions) it don't work!
I am looking for a weight stabalization bar for a 1 1/4" inch hook up. ( i don't really know what that means, but it's what Volvo installs) They tell me these weight distribution thingies are'nt made anymore, but they used to be used for pop-ups. That is supposed to make the difference
for towing with my volvo....... Any advise, ideas are as always welcom!
Any way, had a great camping week!
Happy trails
Lisa

Single axle bambis, regardless of interior condition, are being bought up quickly by resellers and shipped to Japan and Europe. Average selling price is $16,000.00 U.S. for a dent free bambi with a single axle...... Anything under 2500 lbs. is desirablebecause of road size and weight limits for towed vehicles.

$16k! Dang, if I could get that, I'd sell my Bambi right now, even if it was going to head overseas!

If any readers want to see what Airstream Bambis are selling for in Japan go to the website of Old Cars Market Place in Saitama, Japan @ http://www.oldcars.co.jp/
and check under the Vintage Airstream window. A reseller for companies like this in Japan will not pay you $16,000.00 U.S. That is the low end of what your Bambi will resell for. Do the currency conversion from Japanese yen to U.S. dollars. I found this site because a vintage trailer I sold ended up for sale @ four times the price here. Like it or not, Japanese buyers are paying 3 or 4 times what American buyers will spend for the same airstream.....

Just went to that site, Jim. The best part of the whole site was where they described one of the trailers for sale as an Airstream SAFALI.
That's almost as good as when my Japanese girlfriend in high school was visiting family in Tokyo and saw an ad for a car with harogen lights!

We saw you were asking for information on how to get $16k for your Bambi. We were just wondering what you found out, because we have a 1963 Bambi that we are trying to sell, and would like any information you may have gotten. Thank you
