Sure looks like a 61 to me.

So are the floors solid?

You have a diamond in the rough. http://www.perfectpolish.com/ You put some elbow grease into that coach it would look like the one on that site. 63 was the last year they used that exact material. It's T2024 t3 Alcad aircraft aluminum.

Pictures sort of hide condtion but if that coach is in as good and complete of condtion as it looks your nuts to sell it. It's beautiful and as long as you preserve it you will never loose you money on it.

So what are you going to ask for it if you sell it?

Thumbs up

Yep, it's a early model...COOL! If it's in "average Condition" and everything works, you could probably sell it in the $4000-8500 range. Double check the Price vs Condition site above to qualify the condition.

That is just great! I love it, and it even still has the pink appliances. The split kitchen is really different. I assume theres a dinette in the front? From the pictures it looks really straight on the outside. Some polish would do wonders for it.

Believe me, if you want to sell that, you're going to find a buyer. I totally agree with Shari on the price. These little Airstreams are gold, and the classifieds are full of people looking to buy them this time of year. Where are you located?

A great little unit & it appears to be in pretty good shape. Definitely worth some "cool" cash.Correct me if I'm wrong, but in my pre-Airstream days, I used to hear them referred to as a 5 or 7 panel trailer. Anyone ever hear of this? I think it had to do with the early & later years. If so, when was the turning point?
Best,

Interestingly, the '61 Bambi is missing from the weight chart! Nice Caravel. I would have sworn that there wasn't a Caravel in '61 either. Learn something every day!

This would be a reference to the number of panels that make up the end caps. There are up to 13 panels (there may be a couple of 15's) in the older trailers. As Airstream manufacturing progressed and they were able to engineer & make more compound curves, the number of panels decreased.

Shari thanks for clearing that up. From some of the pics on the forum I was getting confused, that's easy for me, as I had seen some with quite a few more panels than 5 or 7. I can remember people asking me if the A/S was a 5 or 7, but never more than that. I'm of course not an expert on A/S, I just know that I have always like them & wanted one or two or three. Now I have one & I think it's a beaut.
Best,

The floors are solid. I am having a minor plumbing issue at the moment, a trap in the sink was cracked. Those are belived to be the original appliances, yes they are pink. The fridge stays cold and the freezer makes ice cubes. The stove top works, I've never tried the oven though. The light fixtures are all original. There is even the original heater in the floor of the camper. I have no idea if it works or not. It is very campable as it is. I seriously think the only unoriginal items in the interior are the carpet on the floor and the paint on the walls. It is missing the water tank, I was told that it had a leak and was removed. What you can't see in the pictures is that behind me is a couch that pulls out to a bed. There is also a small drop leaf table that matches the camper (as there is not a built in eating area). There are 2 dents in the back of the camper, one is right below the electric pigtail and the other is on the back kind of in the middle. To me neither looks very big, but I don't know what would be considered big. It appears that the camper maybe had a leak at one time and there is some type of putty acting as a patch on several of the panels at the back. All of the exterior lights work, even the brakes work. I don't believe that there has been any modifications to this trailer. We did put new tires on it and had the bearings repacked 2 summers ago.
So, before I sell it, do I polish it up and try to have the original paint restored? Or, do I sell it as it is? What are most people looking for when they purchase a vintage airstream? What can I do to make this more marketable? How major is it for a camper to have a couple of dings?

Unless you are willing to spend major time in polishing, I would think it will bring a handsome price as is. The dings are probably fixable.

Either polish it and keep it or sell it as is. A new owner will want to restore it to there likeing and polishing is a lot of work. You will get more $$$ if it's polished but you will also put a lot of time into getting polished. Besides, you probably wouldn't want to part with it after it's polished...

Sell it as is, let someone else do the work. I'm guessing you'll still get a good price for it. It's very unique. I still say put it on eBay, that way you don't have to decide how much to ask, just let the buyers decide how much it should go for. Be sure to use lots of pictures. When you do, be sure to post an ad to the www.airstream.net (the vintage club), and www.airstream.com (the airstream factory) classifieds, as well as here in the for sale section. I've been watching these little trailers since I bought mine, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it go for above $5k, possibly well above it if anyone is interested in how unique it is.

We'll all be watching to see how much it goes for.

Or...

install double doors on the back and be the first kid on the block with an Airstream horse trailer.

Oh ROG!

Dude you are just terrible! :-) Stinker...that would be one swinging horse trailer huh?

Hey FarmGirl...have you put the trailer on Ebay yet or decided on a price if you are going to post here? Sounds like a beauty. We might be interested. My hubby has FINALLY seen the light when it comes to silver bullets. *Only* took 5 years to 'break him in' ha, ha. He is now pretty interested in getting one. Want to strike while the iron is hot. Pink appliances! That totally rocks. Thanks!

We are looking at Aluminum horse trailers but... that might be a little to extreme. We are in the process of try to decide how to sell it. I am currently open to offers. I think we may list it a few places like this first and then if it doesn't go, we'll ebay it. I am looking at the price vs condition sheet and am also trying to take into account the rareity of the camper. If you guys think that airstreams are expenseive, start pricing all aluminum horse trailers But, anything for the beasts right. If anyone wants to email me with what they think a fair price would be, I would be open to the help. And, just incase anyone is a smarta** like me, $5 isn't what I have in mind

Well I'm a little leery of selling on Ebay. See my Ebay Thread,
The new auction closes in just a few hours, wish me and daughter luck?
Hey Roze, you little imp, where's that new WEBSITE you touted?

Agreed, eBay can be frustrating, or you can be really lucky. It could go either way. I hope you trailer goes without a hitch (ha ha) this time, Rog!

Farm Girl, it might help to start another thread that actually says For Sale in the title. There might be people browsing who are looking for a small trailer, but haven't read this thread. Good luck!
