12v water pump '84 Sovreign

HIYA<G>(that's a big grin)...any of you great folks have an idea on how to locate a 12 volt water pump for a '84 Sovreign???
Newbie here, no hint of where to look? Thought maybe Myrtle Beach, it's about 90 minutes away. Seen lots of rv's there. Maybe someone has the name of a dealer that does Airstream in the Low Country area of South Carolina?
Charleston is closer(50 miles) but they only have 1 large new rv dealer we have found so far and he didn't have a hint.... Is it important to restore with original parts or are generics ok? Did water pumps fit several different models?

A water pump is a water pump. There are difrent models that have various flow rates, make more or less noise and have diffrent Amp draws.

The best rule of thumb is least expensive is lower flow, noiser, higher 12 draw. Quieter is more expensive, with better flow rate and lower power draw. Any RV place will have on that will work, but you need to have an idea on what you want/need. Best place for basic research on the web is good old www.campingworld.com At least you can see most of them there. If you want a good price with free freight to your door try

RV add ons The link should take you right to the water pump pages.

The pump is usally screwed to the floor/wall/ a shelf and has 2 flex lines and hose clamps to the input and output of the pump. Then there are the 2 power wires. Your pump is likely under your kitchen sink attached to the exterior wall of the trailer on a shelf.

I just recently replaced my old Surflow with the new Aquajet ES variable speed pump. Not the big, high volume pump, but the one that delivers 3.5 gpm. On my '85 25' the pump was under the wardrobe which is directly over the wheelwell. The new one needed just a bit more room so I moved it to the unused space under the slide out pantry.

The new high capacity Surflow and Aquajet variable speed pumps can draw up to 10 amps, which would likely require some additional wiring in your '84. The Aquajet ES draws a max. of 6.5 amps and my wiring was ok with that.

You didn't indicate why you need new. There is a good section in my 1987 manual on the water pump. Fuses, microswitch, etc.

My local "mobile home/ rv repair" carries shurflo and has catalog to order from as well.

Previous owners had at some time had water pump removed, so other than our manual, which seems to cover several models, we have never seen "the right" water pump.
We appreciate all input, just trying to learn...

Our home is in a 250,000 acre plus national forest and we trek to anyplace we go. Closest rv dealer is over an hours drive and they don't handle AS. Ideas from other AS owners are a big help. Gonna' try some of the kind suggestions already made.
