Why isn't a response visible in New Posts?

When I make a post and then check New Posts, it is never there until someone else makes a post after me. I have never seen this on any other forum. Is there a reason for this?

Yes, because it isnt a new post anymore. The new post page shows pages you haven't seen yet, when you post in a thread, you have (presumably) already read your post.

New Posts won't show you posts where you were the last poster, because nothing new has happened in that post since you last responded to it. At least that's how I understand it.

Anybody ever go to "Quick Links" then "Subscribed Posts"?

You will see every post you have ever made, unless you changed the default settings when you joined.

That's right Shari, which is what I meant when I said "if you didn't change the default settings". The default leaves this feature on.

Unless the defaults have changed since I joined...

Ninety lashes with a wet noodle Aage!!!

What I said was...

That that only works with subscribed posts.

I will use the "Search" drop down menu to find my old posts. It gives you the option of:

1) "View all discussions started by you" and
2) "View all your posts"

It's great for going back in time searching for old postings...but it only goes back 5000 posts, which is plenty for all but a few of us verbose posters ~

Shari

So if I make a new post.....then click 'New Posts' on the toolbar, everybody else can see it but I can't (because it's not 'new' to me)?

Doesn't sound right

You got it exactly right! It shows to all the folks who haven't seen it yet. But you've already read it, right?

Welcome to the Forums and post often about what you are doing with your vintage rig.

I know this also in such a way.....
If I want to check something, I simply click on the address on top (http://www.airforums.com/forums/f138.../forums/......) and it starts on anew , without one must announce himself again!

Gotcha Pat

Can see them in 'New Posts' now. As the original poster wrote, that's just a bit different from other websites I belong to.
And thanks for the "welcome"......will do.
