Why don't we.....?
This could be easy and a great improvement to the Forums. As in the Avion (fleetwood) group pages....lets have an area here with a collection of manuals. Year operating manuals, maintenance manuals, awnings, heaters, furnaces, entertainment, water pumps, converters....etc., etc.
Put them in one place for easy access.

I've got a binder with all original manuals for my '74 Ambassador. It's even highlighted with different options I have with mine. The original owner kept it all and the second owner put it in a binder. I'll look at scanning them and making PDFs when I get home.

Good idea, Robin, though there may be one problem: Some of this stuff is copyrighted material and still being sold.

Hmm......Pirated Airstream manuals. Could be the neatest thing since Napster.

I already got in trouble on the Argue thread, I'm game again.
Just joking. I don't think my 68' is still copyrighted.

Even though there may be copyright concerns about stuff you scan, I think it should be safe to assume if a company makes its manuals available to download it should not be a problem to store them here.
In order for it to be useful it should be stored by year and model or at least organized in some fashion. That means someone(s) needs to volunteer to keep all this organized. Don't look at me, I will not make eye contact.

Just think the Forums could be Napster of old Airstream info. The cachet alone would make it worthwhile. I think there would be some copyright problems though. The available downloads are owner specific. Maybe someone could contact AS for permission. Since this will not be for commercial publication and only be used as a resource they may be OK with it. Actually The Forum may have a bigger problem with this than anyone. They may be worried about copyright infringment. See what the Mods say. If it can't happen here maybe someone can start a Yahoo group specifically for this. Now I'm already in the penalty box so I'm not suggesting this be done. Just thinking out loud here.
BTW, all of you guys with huge Napster music collections. I've forced my I-tunes to download all of these songs. When I update I-tunes sometimes they delete them but I force them back on. If you do it, make sure you save everything before you start. There are programs on the internet specifically to do this. All of Napsters music both free and paid is in the public domain,so if you have some of the songs you downloaded before Sony and Metallica cracked down they are legal.
Steve Jobs was pretty smart but you can manipulate this software through Sn0breeze or Blackrain pretty easily. This is also legal but if your i-pad or i-phone is in warranty it will void it, but you can always plug in and return the device to factory settings.

I notice the registry has garages. We could just make a pile in the back of some garage like we do with real stuff.

Airstream (Corp) has been slowly building out their reference library this year and there are a surprising number of manuals and brochures available online now.
Airstream, Inc :: Specifications
Still, it's an interesting suggestion and we'll take it under advisement. There are some intellectual property concerns, etc, but the capacity exists to undertake something like this - just not sure it's prudent.

I am going to create my own digital library of my Airstream manuals and literature at some point when I have time to scan everything. It would be nice to have everything on the cloud somewhere but not public because of the copyright concerns.
