Keep in Mind:

Airforums is not just designed to be self supporting.

It is part of the income of the Forum's owner.

Most other forums I belong to are non-profit and the ads are only from forum sponsors (i.e. they pertain to the forum's subject). Therefor the ads seem less annoying

Maybe if there more members who paid at least the minimum $20/yr, there could be less ads.
I would guess that almost everyone one who comes to this site saves a lot of money, time, and frustration from what they can learn here. That's worth way more than $20/yr to me.
To those of you with 2 thousand, 3 thousand, 4 thousand posts or more, why don't you support the site with a donation?

I am not saying you are wrong. However keep in mind there are settings in the user CP that allow a supporting member to not have that fact displayed in his posts. Therfore some of those you think are not paying, may in fact simply not want everyone to know they are.

I for one, will confess to experiencing both types of amusement frequently.

Most of all however, I amuse myself. Right now, for example.

I think this is all about weight distribution.

I don't get that—kind of a anti-buyer's remorse.

The OP was complaining about the ads. My point is more supporting members could reduce the need for the site to have so many ads.

If I knew how to take them off, and of course, received permission, they would be gone immediately.

I'm not talking about you. You are a supporting member. I find the ads annoying but but seem to be at an acceptable level so far. I could get on my soap box and talk about the full frontal assault advertising has intruded into almost all aspects of our lives, or some of the earlier ads here about Obamacare or gun rights. But like I said, it's tolerable now. I think here ads that are germane to the forum are fine but for a while they were drifting way off course becoming clearly political. I get enough of that crap from way too many sources. I come to learn, support, and enjoy the contributions of others.

Read again, it's about tires and tire pressures.

You're right. I was distracted by the shiny thing in the middle. The GYMs are the bomb.

You are correct...Geo targeting, your searches are fished or cached and this site has space allotted by companies that look for you and find you and target ads according to your interest or recent searches...internet fact of life... You can always choose to ignore and move on...

Don't really care about the ads on here as I know that the money raised is put to good use in keeping things running here. I can't stand most advertising and I even gave up watching my beloved Simpsons since arriving on these shores; I had no idea that you could get so ads into a 22 minute TV show.

Being in the IT field for over 30 years, I will be the first one to tell you "nothing" is free when it comes to the internet nor anything connected to it.

Never has been, never will be. Ads, mining data, tracking usage, etc... is the price you pay when you turn on your computer and click on an internet browser. If you have problems with it, turn off your computer. Even when you listen to the radio you have to pay the price of ads. (Remember the song by RUSH, "The Spirit of Radio") Maybe someday they will update that classic witht the "The Spirit of Internet"

Supporting Member, nope. Why? Don't really know why. Just never have done it. I'll just keep looking at the ads and understand why they are there.

Enjoy,

It's very simple: when you're using a free service, you are the product.

I really have become unaware of the commercial adds on the forum(s) and do not even glance at them. What is important to me is the real world experiences reported by those using a product. That guides my thinking on acquiring or not acquiring another widget or service.
