Scroll down and select the view you prefer in the Miscellaneous section and then hit save. Ads keep the board online for everyone, but for those who help out as AIR Supporters we have this option.

In either case, no matter which way you support the board (clicking on ads or as a Supporter) we appreciate the help keeping the lights on.
I tried this and it made the subject ads go away.

Welcome to the world controlled by Google. Those ads are served by google and they are targeted at you based on the searches you have done.

Truly scary and very annoying indeed.

I think the silver trailer supply ads look nice with the trailer one time and the cool blue Airstream logo the next, but I will edit the ads out...

I used to be bothered by it, until I realized that they can helpful. If I'm going to see ads, I'd rather see ones I am interested in. The whole trick is to not visit web sites you don't want everyone else to know about.

The more and more our population grows and technology evolves, the harder and harder it is and will be to do anything in private. It's probably easier just to adapt your lifestyle to it.

If google's ad targeting bothers you, check out duckduckgo.com. An alternative search engine that is 100% private.

The ads do not bother me. Just a minor inconvenience. Jim

I got them between posts and also in the middle of the list of subscribed threads. I've seen these on other forums and I think they are pretty obnoxious. Of course, since I long ago learned to ignore advertising, and I'm sure I'm not alone, ads just keep getting more and more intrusive. I think this goes far enough over the line to turn people off—interrupts the flow of the forum and makes the page ugly.

Now I'm going to block it.

I went into "user CP" and changed some settings that were supposed to remove the ads at the top and the right side. Those ads didn't go away, but the ad between the first and second posts went away.

Ditto for me.

Glad somebody started this thread, I didn't want to be the only whiner.

Seriously, how many ads can you cram onto one small screen?

OK, done whining.

With the CP settings and Adblock Plus, the only things I see that even resemble ads are the two little boxes in the upper right announcing rallies.

The mobile app has no ads, but sucks for other reasons.

Not to hijack the thread, but always assume that some computer, somewhere, is watching what you do, say or type anywhere on the 'Net. Anonymity is a thing of the past. And I'm not just talking about those weird 3 letter gub'ment agency folks. Try doing a search (or simply typing an odd word/phrase) for something like Emu Oil. Then watch your ads for the next few days.

The CEO of Google a year or so ago said some words to the effect that they want to "push it to edge of creepy". I think they are probably there.

Don't be paranoid, just be aware.

Even with the Turn off Right Column button set to "off", I still get Airstream adds on the right edge, I also said no to Tagging Options and Off to Vendor Ad Toggle. I then logged out and back into the forum.

It is spooky how I can tell the ads are related to some website I have visited.
Within the week I have been on Nissan's site and an internet tire buying site.
What ads do I get? You guessed it...

I turned off the ads between the posts and subscribed threads, but still get the ads on the right side. I thought I turned those off too. I ignore them anyway.

When I see these ads on other forums it turns me off to joining them. I'm sure some people looking at this Forum feel the same way. This raises the question—do the ads help or hurt the Forum? I know it is claimed ads pay for the Forum—since we don't see the financials for ads and subscription fees vs. expenses, we don't really know—it may be they are necessary. But if they are obnoxious they may reduce income in the long run.

I can't help but notice that 8 of the people on this thread are not supporting members with a total of well over 14,000 posts between them. 3 of you alone have a combined total of over 10,000 posts but don't seem to want to support the site. It always amazes me that on so almost all threads there are so major posters that are NON-supporting members. Maybe if there more members who paid at least the minimum $20/yr, there could be less ads.
I would guess that almost everyone one who comes to this site saves a lot of money, time, and frustration from what they can learn here. That's worth way more than $20/yr to me.
To those of you with 2 thousand, 3 thousand, 4 thousand posts or more, why don't you support the site with a donation?

The people who do not pay the $20 are still supporting the website by being here, making the Forum more interesting and making it a popular Forum. So it doesn't bother me that they don't pay the $20 even though I do. One who is not a supporting member, however, did say a couple of years ago he was sick of Airstreamers, Airstreams and the Forum, sold his Airstream and said he was quitting, but keeps posting. I don't get that—kind of a anti-buyer's remorse.

You may be talking about me. I stay on here because it is amusing. Actually why someone uses the forum is not the other users business. I find the ads not an issue . I guess I have other things to worry about. This is a business, the mods and the owners can do as they please. That is cool with me. Jim
