I don't want to start a war here but I thought it worth mentioning to the administration that some of us are not happy with it. It is their sight and they can do with as they please but without the members it would not be a place for advertisers to want to use the sight either. At some point, the ads do more harm than good by running folks off or making them use ad blockers to block advertising which is going to backfire on them. Personally, I think the ads that pop up when you mouse over by accident are a real pain. Ads should be at the top and on the side bar. It is the same as magazines putting those thick cardboard adds in between the pages so you can't turn the page without them getting in the way. I pull those out before reading the magazine. If I block all ads then the advertisers get nothing for their efforts.

These new ads remind me of the "suggested posts" (paid advertisements disguised as posts) I see on Facebook. Could be one reason I don't do much Facebooking.

Agreed. Happy to pay twenty bucks a year to keep this site up if I don't have to see ads.

I just discover something that everyone else probably already knows:

Adblock and Adblock Plus are two completely different programs by different developers.

I just replaced Adblock with Adblock Plus and was able to get rid of the ads on both IE11 and chrome.

There is an option for Supporting Members to turn off many ads.

Usercp >edit options

or click here:http://www.airforums.com/forums/prof...do=editoptions

Scroll down and select the view you prefer in the Miscellaneous section and then hit save. Ads keep the board online for everyone, but for those who help out as AIR Supporters we have this option.

In either case, no matter which way you support the board (clicking on ads or as a Supporter) we appreciate the help keeping the lights on.

The one I get most is Silver Trailer Supply. A good reason not to order anything from them. And let them know why.

I tried this and it made the subject ads go away.

Welcome to the world controlled by Google. Those ads are served by google and they are targeted at you based on the searches you have done.

Truly scary and very annoying indeed.

I think the silver trailer supply ads look nice with the trailer one time and the cool blue Airstream logo the next, but I will edit the ads out...

I used to be bothered by it, until I realized that they can helpful. If I'm going to see ads, I'd rather see ones I am interested in. The whole trick is to not visit web sites you don't want everyone else to know about.

The more and more our population grows and technology evolves, the harder and harder it is and will be to do anything in private. It's probably easier just to adapt your lifestyle to it.

If google's ad targeting bothers you, check out duckduckgo.com. An alternative search engine that is 100% private.

The ads do not bother me. Just a minor inconvenience. Jim

I got them between posts and also in the middle of the list of subscribed threads. I've seen these on other forums and I think they are pretty obnoxious. Of course, since I long ago learned to ignore advertising, and I'm sure I'm not alone, ads just keep getting more and more intrusive. I think this goes far enough over the line to turn people off—interrupts the flow of the forum and makes the page ugly.

Now I'm going to block it.

Gene
