What changed

Yesterday no adds, today adds everywhere. I have have Addblock plus enabled. I am an Irv2 supporter and I am logged in. The same as I was yesterday. So what changed overnight?

The same thing is happening on the iRv2 site.

Ah, I'm using Abine's blocker and see none of the ads, as usual. I kind of suspect that the problem might be on your end?

Anybody else seeing anything unusual?

Lynn

Using the same browser both times? I notice that when I log on using Chrome, ads are blocked, but when I log in using IE, they're not, because I hardly ever use IE anymore and never enabled adblocker on that browser. The difference is all in my computer settings, not on the Forums website. Apparently adblocker is browser-specific.

Don't know if that's what's happening with you, though. Just tossing out ideas to see if any of them stick.

I use Firefox 27.0.1 and Ad Block Plus 2.5.1 that was updated today. Yesterday no adds, today adds everywhere. Whats strange is that only 2 web sides that I get adds is Air Forum and iRv2 which are both Social Knowledge run forums. I have shut down the computer, logged off and back on and still adds . Strange

Let's think about what you just wrote… Ad Block Plus was updated today, and today the ads are showing up. Seems to me based on those two statements that the first place to look for a problem is in Ad Block Plus; there might be a setting that was changed due to the update, that you'll have to manually restore to the way you want it.

I am now on a different computer, still Firefox and the only updates have been made are auto from Add Block. I see the same adds on this computer on Air Forums and iRv2. I did contact Add Bloch but have not heard back from them.

If you have Ad Block Plus and are seeing ads now but have not seen them in the past it may be due to an update from from Ad Block Plus on the February 26th.

Here is what I did that seems to have worked with Firefox. Right click on the ad, then from the drop down menu click on "Ad Block Plus: Block Image". A new window will pop up that is labeled "Ad Block Filter Rule". From this window click on the option listed as "Custom", then click on "Add Filter". This should eliminate the Ad and not effect any Air Forum images that you want to maintain. You will need to do this on all of the ads and it will take time to get all of them.

OP, are you referring to the ads for WBCCI, Restoring a Dream, Bash V, Fiddlers Picnic etc. that appear on the upper right of each page? I could be mistaken, but I think these have only begun to show in the last week or so.

Since these AS-related ads are probably coded from within the forum software, I'd guess that adblock etc would not be able to block them.

I guess "Bare Stream Nudist Rally is an "AS-related ad". Oh well I will try zapping it as well. Lets see if it comes back.

Could be fun ... then again, all naturists may not be quite as advertised.

Those rally ads are not there to sell stuff, just promote rallies organised by forum members. They are notification of FREE FUN...

OK, Janet; why was there a Nissan ad on your post #15 and I click on reply and the ad disappears?

If you saw an ad in a post, it's likely you were not logged in.

Was it a nice Nissan? I have a birthday coming up....

The same thing is happening on the iRv2 site.
Do you have the free version of AdBlock? It has a limit on adds blocked in a given period of time. When that is reached it quits until the time has expired.

If you have the "pay for" version, then I suggest you check the settings. If nothing found there, I would totally remove adblock and erase its directory and reinstall. I have the paid for version and I never see adds here, either on IE or Chrome.

Are you seeing the "Airstream Rally" and "WBCCI" adds? How do you get the paid version of Ad Block, I only see a spot to make a contribution, which I have.

Thanks
