2air, I'm all about whiners day

When Susan and I got married we divided up who got to do what.

Susan gets to bitch, moan, grip and complain, while I get to whine, whimper and pewl.

Looking forward to 12/26.......

I need to say that I too find the search function to be waste of time. It uses keywords and if they are anywhere in a thread it comes up. This all leads to a lot of reading of things that have nothing to do with what one is trying to find out. For instance I am getting ready to replace some of my floor without gutting everything. I want to "search" partial floor replacement... well up comes "it's someday and a trailer exploded and my least favorite word is..." so I am supposed read through 158 pages of that dribble to find out someone used the word "partial" on page 78... By not using the "search" function folks are giving people something to read and respond to, it allows the more knowledgeable to pass on their wisdom and insight to the ignorant in the group. The lack of using the "search" function is creating something for all of us to read. Face it, it ALL has been said before... So I say... "Say NO to the search button!"
Hope I don't get warned for such revolutionary thinking..

bingo!

http://www.airforums.com/forums/sear...earchid=872326

the above search took....35 seconds.

with another 60 it could be limited to the 4 threads with 'partial floor replacement' in the title...

SURE, it was a 'waste of my time'...

but 24 hits is not too many...

and NO game threads, blah, blah, blah!

u r welcome!

cheers

I told you he was good. We should have a sticky thread, "411 2Air" Or maybe have a time trials game thread, "Beat the Clock."

I can't wait for National Ding-a-ling Day. I do hope its a present exchange holiday. I'm making a list.

That's good... otherwise your warn meter might have gone off. See that is how it all works newbies.

.....and OnStar may be listening. We have cameras that monitor our every move. Very Orwellian don't you think?

no, but does the search post about help YOU?

that's the point.

it isn't "158 pages of that dribble"...

just ONE page of floor replacement dribble.

the archives is like a library

and the search function is a tool.

the tool CAN be used effectively.

as you noted...

I find that the forums are divided into focused catagories. I usually find
the thread I need by just using the forums. It just seems to take awhile to read the threads because eveyone is posting that you should use the search function. ( kidding )

which is exactly the point...

only ONE reply to YOUR question...

partially because others have ALREADY answered it in previous posts.

i could care less how many times the same question gets asked...

but i do care that folks get some help...

and learn to help themselves.

many who have ALREADY taken the time and made the effort to ANSWER...

aren't gonna type it again.

it is my observation that many of the BEST answers and longest string of replies have already been posted, to common questions.

and with each new version of the same question, the number or replies goes DOWN, as does the quality of the answers.

most of us think 'our' version of the question is unique or hasn't been covered yet...

we also think our kids are smarter than the neighbors kids too...

mine sure are...

2air'

so there isn't a quarrel here and it's not personal....

but there IS a reason for this answer list...

4. You have posed an excellent question. Refer to the posts below for advice.

5. I know exactly what you're referring to, I had the same problem with mine but I fixed it.

6. This was a common problem with that year and model. Buy a different one.

7. I don't understand the instructions either. Do you have any kids?

8. First be sure that you have plugged it in.

9. Have you tried WD-40?

10. If it's not on the inside, try looking outside.

I just want you to know that I feel good. People not using the search button is the least of my worries. I want answers and a lot of people want to give answers. Look at this thread, the answer, to it could have been obtained by using the search button, but then you would have had nothing to comment on for the past hour. The fact that the author did not search has created something for you to get excited about. I think you should be grateful, I am. MRMOSSEYONE, thank you, I would give you karma if I were able, but it says I have to spread it around...
Hope I don't get put on someones "ignore list"...
