I just noticed that after I posted a reply, my profile box (on the left margin) now has a new line. It says Warn (0%) and is followed by five tan circles. Is this new with the upgrade and what does it stand for?
Hi there;
I've seen that today with my profile;
isn't a kind of negative feedback with a maximum of 5 to stay a member of this community ? may be the way to respect rules ...why not ?
warn = warning ?
On edit: I can live with that. The moderators certainly have info on problem posts or posters -- it's good that each of us can get insight into where we stand. Rivets aren't forever. It helps to keep one's attitude walbernized!
Go to User CP and look at the bottom of Edit Options. Is this something new?
Inspector Type
We have many members that are willing to help each other by inspecting a nearby trailer or motorhome that might be states away for a forum member that would like to buy it.
[radio buttons for following choices] Trailer Inspector Only Motorhome Inspector Only I can help inspect both... Argosy Inspector Only
How far are you willing to drive to inspect?
Please let us know how far you are willing to drive to take a look at a unit in order to help out another member?
[field to fill in distance]
Do you offer courtesy parking?
Please let us know if you can offer members courtesy parking. In the next field you can put more details about this.
[radio buttons for following choices] Yes No
Is it implemented yet? It'd be curious how we'd be able to be notified, etc. It would be helpful making the ideas in the So you want to buy a trailer that is 3 states away??? thread a durable part of our ASForums!
Dunno Don -- We saw a newer, very active poster get banned in the last couple weeks. He might have changed to less charged topics (gosh, like Airstreams?) if he saw what was happening. I would dislike it if this also resulted in PMs or emails to me!
As much as I can tell only the individual making the reply can see this? I would really, really like it not to be visible at all unless I was actually being warned. Seems a bit Big Brother otherwise...
To be honest, I'm the only one (as is the same with everyone else) that can see this on their info, it doesn't show to the masses, and frankly I'm not that concerned about it myself....I gotta a whole bunch of other things that have started to creep up in my life that make this just not a big issue.
Keep in mind that I've had the warnings and beyond myself, so this is not coming from a community member that has never felt the branch creek, cause for the most part (not always), the warnings or beyond were justified.

I'm just guessin' here, but I suspect it's a way for the MoDErators to keep us in line, and ban you if you don't be nIcE.
Very judgemental IMO.
if we didn't have that ability, (which we already had anyway) just not as readily...we might as well not moderate. And..the sites that are not moderated are rough, raw and out of control. Take a look at AirstreamCentral sometime...yikes!
as for the "vanilla" discussions...aren't we all aout helping each other with our main concern..and not bickering or outright trashing others for their point of view. I thought this site has always been tremendously helpful when you have a problem or need relating to Aistreams and the lifestyle.
I have been in the midst of a repair, gotten stuck..taken a digital phots or two, and posted..only to find out the answer, and finish the job properly with online aid from others. Thats what I'm talkin' about.

lemme see if i can clear a few things up for you guys....
one: only you can see your warning bar. other members cannot. moderators can see everyone's. it is just a tool to help us be fair when dealing with infractions.
look at it as a gas gauge of sorts that only you can see.
two: the exact number scale is yet to be determined, we are working on it now.
three: there can be comments left for a member regarding behavior without adding to the scale. this would be for reminders before an actual warning.
four: as for changing your id and or the use of a new ip address if you get banned might work for a while...but ones style doesn't change. we can tell, it is not that hard to figure out. if you get caught again you will be banned again. (this has actually occurred more than once!)
five: there will be time limits on moderation and warnings, if you screw up and then behave yourself your meter will go back down. we are working on the amounts of time for various offenses.
six: for 99.999999% of forum members this will not be a problem, it is just for the one or two bad apples that come along every now and then.
seven: the surest way to get disiplined is to be rude to another member, we take the play nice rule very seriously. as a matter of fact, the vast majority people who have been banned from the forum violated this rule. plain and simple.

I requested AndyR look into not showing that meter unless it has a value in it. I agree there's no reason for everyone to have that hanging over their head, when only a very small percentage of people will be using it. A VERY small percentage! Most people have no problem adhering to the rules around here, which mostly amount to "Be nice to each other"!
We want this forum to be a place where people can discuss things without feeling threatened by personal attacks. If there are members who cannot handle that, then we have to be the bad guys who send them packing.
I will look into hiding the warning system unless you get a warning. That is a GREAT idea and makes a lot of sense.
Also, we will post all the details about the system as soon as we hash them out. Our mod and admin team is working on this right now. We are discussing all the possible ways to setup the system, the procedures needed to enforce it uniformly across the board and lots of other little details that need to be carefully discussed.
Please look for an official announcement on this in the near future.
