I'm closing in on 67 and typing this on my iPod. Adapting is not easy, but I think it keeps me from forgetting things. NOW where was I?

I don't have any problems typing on an iPad. But my one or two finger poke and hope method never had any problems on a keyboard either. Lol

Maybe I should change my name to coyote. As in "Wile E".

I stumbled across it by my poke and hope method. I'm not afraid to go where no man (or woman) has gone before. Which has got me into trouble before.

Now if I could only learn how to type with more than two fingers.

A problem with typing on the iPad is there is no cursor and correcting mistakes takes too long. Maybe those other 8 fingers are for correcting mistakes.

There is a curser. You just touch the screen where you want to make a change. It is a bit tricky, but you will adapt.
I discovered something else last night. There is an edit function as well.
Another day I learned something.

There is no curser. That's one of the reasons you can't use a mouse. There's nothing to control with a mouse.

Yes, you can touch the screen, but it's not the same. By far.

I still prefer a real keyboard and mouse, but this was written using the app on my iPad.

The portability is nice, and you do adapt, but it's still clunky.

I must have to shave my index finger down to a point to insert a cursor. It is not the cursor we are used to, but sort of one. The touch screen is not always responsive and will often insert the cursor in the wrong place since my finger is not Apple approved. It is also slow to respond.

Maybe in a year or two Apple will include a more responsive system. They seem to withhold changes until they issue a improved version of whatever product it is so they can sell more. They make great and reliable stuff, but they are as bad as Microsoft ever was on consumer issues. Planned obsolescence has been elevated to a new high by Apple. I have mixed feelings about Apple and I have been buying their products for 20+ years.

The moisture in your skin has a lot to do with it, I think. I'm kind of a dry old fart. So when I don't get the response such as scrolling. I moisten the tip of my finger and get much better response. Really seem to have a problem when I try to expand or contract the screen with my fore finger and thumb.
I find I have the same problem with the touch pad on a laptop. I much prefer to use a mouse when on a real computer.

I find using my finger nail on some things works better than skin. I am letting them grow to Fu Manchu length. Since the iPad was made in China, maybe this is the solution.

Eeeewwww! Then you have spit on your screen!

I really miss emoticons with the IPad app. I feel very bland, when I'm really not.

I'm new to the Apple world and finding it very frustrating. Maybe my IQ isn't high enough for it to be intuitive but I read the IPad 2 manual also and still find things lacking.... For instance I bookmark, ALOT but frequently don't put things in folders.... If someone could tell me how to search my bookmarks I would be forever grateful I also hold the record for the fastest damage, I cracked my screen the first day I owned it
