User CP question, I think

I thought I remembered a setting in the USER CP that would allow us to automatically go to the "first unread post" any time we clicked on that little orange down arrow on the left side of a thread title/link.

For some reason, I now go to the "first new post when I click on that arrow..

Does anybody know where to change that in the User CP? I can't seem to find it.

Thanks Gang.

Jim

If you go to your Edit Options, then Thread Display Options, you can select first unread, I believe it is....which should get you what you want.

Mine is set at Linear...Newest First, and automatically goes to the first unread post in a thread.

I don’t use the orange arrow, just open the thread.

There is also a link in there to a help thread on the subject.

That's where I thought it was, Maggie. But I don't see it there. Mine is set to Linear, oldest first in that area. Same as it's been since I joined the site. The mystery continues.

Think I figured it out. As Maggie suggested, click on the title/link of the thread, not the little yellow box with the arrow. That will take you to the first "unread" post. Clicking the arrow takes you to the first "new" post.

Weird, I'm sure I remembered it the other way around. Oh well.

Thanks everybody.

What is a bathroom?

I never used that orange down arrow -- just set to view latest post first in the linear mode, and click on title of thread. This automatically takes one to the latest unread post IMO. The quickest route home.

Ditto to Maggie, and here is the Help page to which she referred IMO:

When you find it, you'll find other useful things - like the orange arrow

I also do this - newest posts at the top of the thread - no scrolling.

Here is the path:

User CP [on left in blue menu bar above]
Your Control Panel [on left]
Settings and Options [grey menu bar]
Edit Options
Thread Display Options
Thread Display Mode
Linear -- Newest First
This Help Page:
.....https://www.airforums.com/forums/faq...thread_display

After you navigate through this path, you should be able to set your thread display options according to your preferences.

Good luck, and have a good weekend!
