Thread titles all the same if try to set as 'Favorites'
1. Threads that are particularly helpful to my situation are easily saved as 'Favorites.' I can arrange a tier of folders within folders to whatever tow situation, trailer model, structural issue, or mechanical subsystem I wish. Until the last few days the name of the link would include part of the thread title so that it would be unique. Now every 'favorite' I drag-and-drop is titled exactly the same -- "Airstream Trailer & Motorhome Community - Forums, photos, classifieds, reviews and more!" (no more thread title at top of thread window -- makes it harder to conceal at work!!!) Then I get a dialog box stating the folder already contains a file with that name and would I like to replace it?
It is possible to save the link, then rename it so it would be unique. For the evolving software situation, how hard is it to have the drag-and-dropped title retain some individuality?
Does anybody else save threads this way?
2. Maurice -- Yes, I'm having to log in every time too. ...not the worst price to enter the best website 'out there!'

When you select Favorites->Add to Favorites, the default favorite name is the window title, which is in the webpage html header. You can highlight that and replace it with whatever you want. It appears the old software used to title the window with the topic title and the new software unfortunately titles all the windows the same.
FWIW, there is a cookie on my machine with the encrypted password, but the new software doesn't appear to be reading it and logging me in.

Smilies
The post icons have changed. Every one that I was "smiling" on now has a mad face. I tried to edit them. Still mad (but I'm not mad...really!)

It appears there may be an interesting side effect of the new forum not logging you in. The links in emails, end with goto=newpost, but clicking on them takes me to the first post on the first page of the thread. I assume because it doesn't know who you are and what's a new post for you.
Emails are also now from "Forums Forums" instead of "Forums Mailer".

<---- was thinking I was alone with the login problem. Glad to know I'm not losing my mind, along with my functionality!

Titling a window with the topic title was convenient. I could have the main ASForums page open and several threads open in various windows. Window titling on the task bar is now uniform and makes it harder to switch back and forth while working between the windows.
Notice how low the 'Active Users' number appears on the ASForums main page? That is certainly a product of the unrecognized cookie and having to sign in each time issue. Wonder what that will do for ability to sell ad links on the site?

History
Aargh! Just looked in Internet Explorer's history to send a link to hubby to read info in a thread when it suits him. No more subject titles appear -- just all airstreamforums title and number (of the thread, I guess). Any way for this to be fixed?
Love this forum -- that's why I send stuff for DH to read! Can you tell I love the new smilies, too?!

Nancy, you can email a link to any thread by clicking on "thread tools" in the upper blue menu bar.
The title of the thread will appear in the message as the subject. You can add notes such as "refer to post #47".

That IS a nifty tool. Thanks.
My problem is easily getting back to the one thread I was looking at the previous day and now want to forward. The thread title used to be shown in Internet Explorer's History.

The only way I can find to create a new thread is to use the "forums" tab at the top of the page. Then select the area or topic that you want to start a thread about, and the button for a "new thread" appears on this page under the "sub-forums" and above the thread list.

I think was caused by the left hand column. I will look into a fix.

yes andy,
the only way i have been able to start a new thread is how mark and kimber indicated.
if i use anything other than the forums tab to open a new page it doesn't work.
i was able to start a new thread reminding everyone of tonights chat this way.

Heck a few times somewhat recently, adding new threads would time out and say I didn't have privs either after trying to post...retrying usually got me in...but it was a process.....

I think the page title issue has been fixed. I am looking into a better solution though that removes the opening text of the title on thread pages. I'll keep you posted...

I'm having trouble starting a new thread. It tells me the thread is a duplicate of one I've made in the last five minutes, and so I end up with no new thread at all. This has happened three times.
