Yes, the attachments are very helpful. But I have had zero success having anyone respond to me that I contacted for inspection help from the Forum listings.
I'm wondering why people would sign up as inspectors but then not respond to an inquiry.

I am not sure about the Bambi but serial numbers were Stamped in the tongue. Curbside Tongue Rail between the body and the coupler.
Good Luck

How would I go about finding a volunteer inspector in or near Dallas, Texas?
My husband and I just sold our house in New England and are about to become full-timers. We found a Taylor designed 1975 A/S retrofitted for people with environmental illness, thus it is pricey! We are such newbies and want to be sure! We also are choosing a diesel truck and know that Dodge's aren't the way to go. (We want diesel so we can do mountain roads and so we can convert it to veggie oil)
Recommendations on trucks?
Volunteer to check out this A/S/ in Big D? Any help appreciated!
Also, the dealer told us we'd not need a Hensley hitch...What would we need?
Buying a used Airstream can sometimes become a regional or national quest. We have hundreds of members willing to help with the legwork. Volunteer inspectors can help take the guesswork out of a long distance purchase.
We put together a trailer inspector checklist to help AIR members. Our membership list can be sorted to find volunteer inspectors who may be able to help prospective buyers with long distance purchases.
Inspectors can download this blank checklist, print it and take it along to an inspection or e-mail a completed one to the buyer to save time.
Good luck hunting
Triple check any rotten wood/floor/bathroom!!!
Just bought Limited 34, 1992. Total disasted under carpet in bathroom.
I am trying to pull up the listing of possible inspectors in Ontario, Canada, but the portal search box provides me with a list of all members in Ontario. Any thoughts how to solve this?
Hello,
I've located a very nice looking 1987 25' Airstream that I would like to buy. I really need to have this unit inspected before I commit. A suggestion of an inspector or a local RV Service business with Airstream experience would be appreciated. Thank you.
Robert, if you do an advanced search of the inspectors list and only put FL in the state search, the search should let you know which people are listed as living in FL and are willing to go out and inspect. You will probably need to have a FL map so that you can figure out where Stuart, FL is and who will be closest and willing to go there.
Good luck with your search.
Lou

Lou,
Thank you for your suggestions. I sorta would feel funny just asking someone I don't know out of the blue to help me out like that. I'm sure a thorough inspection is time consuming. I'd have to consider their time, their schedule, my schedule and the owners schedule. I'd be putting them out too much. I'd feel much better if someone responded positively, then I know they really wanted to help, not just didn't feel obliged. I would even appreciated know if someone knew of a reputable RV facility that would do the inspection.
Hi Robert!
Don't know how much you have figured out about the way the threads and portal page works on this forum. The threads that are current do not stay long on the portal page. And lots of folks that post a question or who want a response let them drift to the bottom of the page. When they fall off the bottom some folks don't go to check what has been going on during the day/or whenever they are away from their computer.
The best way to find an inspector would be to PM them directly, or maybe a few directly. Those that signed up to be inspectors have signed up because they want to be of help. We expect those Private Messages. That is why there is the list! Larry and I have inspected several times now. Yes, it takes lots of time and gas and photos to get the job done. But we are hoping to make a positive difference and get someone a nice Airstream.....or (heaven forbid) save someone from buying a pig in a poke, so to speak. We volunteered for the job or we wouldn't be on the LIST.
So, my advice remains, go to the advanced search and find someone who lives in a city near where the trailer is and send a Private Message to ask if they have time to do it.
When Larry and I got the PM we asked for their phone number and then got the details.
Good luck!

This is good advice and it is because of people like Loudruff willing to offer their services to those in need that makes this community so great. We are in the FL panhandle and have secured our interest in a trailer in Colorado thanks to a volunteer inspector that responded to our request. If it were not for their generosity, we would not be as close as we are today to owning our first Airstream. I would certainly suggest offering payment even for the smallest inspections; after all time is worth something to all of us. The couple that inspected for us took a few hours of their day to help two complete strangers and for payment asked to simply share a glass of wine if we see them out on the road. Unbelievable generosity!
